Could you help me

Find out where there are cheaper hotels in the Mississippi area. My husband has been deployed for Iraq and was sent to Gulfport to gear up. He leaves there in late August. I am trying to get a hotel as the navy lodge is booked for the dates of Aug. 17th- Aug. 22nd. Most hotels are booked too. I am sure all the wives have the same idea and want to see their husbands before they are gone for a year. I am going to rent a car and I don't mind driving back and forth as long as it is not more than 50 miles away as my husband is not aloud to leave and go more than 50 miles away from base. Will it just be you in the room and your husband? Or will you be sharing a room? There are bed anad breakfasts here in my town about 45 minutes from Gulfport. I might have means to put you up in another location for free too. I will see about it and get back to you. Wiggins MS is about the same distance away and has a motel. I will find you something. Okay this is the deal Southern Inn is in Wiggins MS which is 25 miles away from Gulfport. It is on Hwy 49North. Anyway they do have rooms and I will reserve it as soon as you decide what you want. Please let this be on me. I would be honored to do it for you and your husband. It is nice and not expensive at all. I think you would enjoy a double better so you would have more room. I could go look at the rooms to make sure they are decent if you want me to---just let me know. The number there is 601 928 5422 Another motel --not as nice --Western Motel-- is also in Wiggins MS. My friend Rhonda may come on and say there is something closer. We will see what she says. She lives in that area.Some won't post over the weekend. We will wait and see what they say Monday. Jane

Oh Jane Thank you so much. You are so kind. I am so very grateful for your help. The hotel 25 miles away sounds perfect. My 14 year old daughter will be coming with me because I am a chicken. My husband is not sure which nights he will actually get to stay the whole night. We don't need a big room my daughter and I can share a bed. Anything you could get us would be wonderful. Try billeting at Keesler AFB. It will be on a space A basis, but it couldn't hurt! I don't have the number for it, but you could get it from www.whitepages.com Good luck to you. If I lived closer to the coast, you could visit with us! But I am about 190 miles away....I doubt you'll find a real hotel room on the coast unless some of the casinos have hotels opened back up. try www.sunhearld.com that's the Biloxi paper. I agree with Arlies try billeting at Keesler they usually have a BEQ(bachelor enlisted quarters) most of these rooms have kitchenettes too. The BX and Commisary are there on the base too. So is the hospital if you need anything. I dont have the number but go to Keeslers website I dont know that address just google it. It will be much cheaper. Good luck my husband is in the Navy. I live in Wiggins and not to be negative BUT I really don't think that you will be happy at the Southern Inn... I have friends that have had bad experiences there. Try the Best Western and/or the Western Motel if you stay in Wiggins. I work in Gulfport on HWY 49 Which is really a lot closer and here are a few of the hotels there: Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Best Western, Sun Suites, Fairfield Inn, Comfort Inn. Sorry that I don't have phone numbers for them, however, just look them up on your computer (Highway 49, Gulfport, MS 39503) Good Luck! Thank you all for helping me. You guys are great. I did call Keesler Air Force base and they said I would be on space availability. They said I could only call to reserve 24 hours in advance. I thought about taking the chance but it'sjust to risky for me. I'm afraid I'll get there and there will not be room and most hotels are already booked up right now for those dates. And to tell you the truth Ladies by the time I take my anti anxiety meds and dramamine so I don't vomit the whole flight I don't know if I'll be up to finding a place to stay.
