Any one from Golden Triangle area?
I'm Kathi. I recently divorced and moved back home after10 years in Tuscaloosa. Actually I grew up in Columbus but now am in West Point. I've been a member of Alabama boards for over a year and now I'm joining Ms. Yeah I'm home.
I'm a lap band pre op. waiting for my Ms. Medicaid to start . Dec '05 at 308 lbs. I was diagnosed w/DB II as if my other co-morbids HBP, SLP APP, Depression, Degenerative disk ... weren't enough.. I smoked too 
Put the breaks on girl it's time for a change. A BMI of 53 was out of the question. Because of Medicare and the lack of a center of excellence near by I had to wait. I had been doing most of the pre op work and had lost 40lbs. That's when mr. right became
mr.wrong 
. I was getting healthier and he became a insecure
tyrant.
He gave me a choice and I chose me. 
Whew,I'm happier now. Life is precious and so am I. So, I'm in West Point and looking for new friends. Any takers?? I'm starting my Surgeon search over and thinking about those in the Oxford area. So Ok what's the scoop on them? Kathi

Well, welcome aboard (or on board - LOL)...I live in Jackson/Brandon area, but did have gastric bypass with Dr. King in Oxford (three years ago). I'm pretty sure there is someone either in his office, or around close that does lap band in that area. Don't know about your area. I had an uncle Festus Armstrong that lived in West Point, but that is all I know about West Point.

I live in columbus!! Its good to see someone from my neck of the woods! Im orginally from philadelphia ms, but moved up here 5 years ago. I work on base .
If you are looking for a surgeon that takes medicad my surgeon, Dr. Gregory adams, he is in decatur, al, he takes it. (according to his website they do) not sure what it is, but go to google, and type in surgical asscoiates of north alabama and it should pop up. He is the best, he will take care of you. Ive lost so far 102 pounds since December.

We are from Columbus. I graduated from Caldwell in 1974. Walter graduated from Lee High in 1970. We live in Ridgeland now but go home twice a month to visit his Mom. Welcome back. I do not know about surgeons in Oxford, but check them out good. I was told by my PCP if they have done at least 200 procedures they are usually ok. Take your time do research. Good luck!!
