Sis is doing better
Thanks guys for all of the prayers. Sorry it took so long to update on my sister, but I started a new job and we have been on vacation some too. My sister is getting better. She ended up having some really bad virus that is in the same family as the Mono virus. She ended up seeing an internist here in Hattiesburg that finally diagnosed her. The virus (Cytomeglovirus) doesn't really affect normal people too much. You can have it and not even know it. But it hits older people, babies, and people with weakened immune systems really hard and can be deadly. My sister's immune system wasn't up to par as she has been really sick with her Crohn's Disease and had just had surgery in May. That is why she had such a bad time with it.
They are still planning to do a biopsy of the lymph nodes in her neck in August if the swelling has not gone down by then. This is just to be on the safe side and rule out Hodgkins Disease. They feel the lymph node swelling is due to the virus, but they want to be sure because if it is caused by the virus the swelling should be gone down by August.
She has a checkup today at Oshner's from the surgery she had in May. Whenever her liver function returns to normal from this virus, she will probably have one more surgery at Oshner's to correct some problems caused from her Crohn's Disease. This next surgery will involve removing two small areas of intestines that are severely ulcerated. And then piece them back together. The good news is that there are no additional ulcerations. These places have been there since she was originally diagnosed. So since being diagnosed three or so years ago and taking her medications she has had no new places to come up. So, the meds are working. So, hopefully once these two bad places are removed, she can continue to improve and stay healthy with the meds that are available now to treat Crohn's Disease.
Thanks again for the prayers. God is so good.
Melissa
Glad to hear you finally have some answers.
How is the job going? Hope it is good. We are all fine. Missed you at Brookhaven Sat. It was fun. Good quality visiting and laughing a bit too.
Still planning to see you at my house maybe in Sept for the big bash. Talk to you later.
Have a great evening.
Jane
I am liking my new job. It is going really well. Lots less stress but the same money. Can't beat that.
I hated to miss the bash but we were on vacation with all of my family at Gulf Shores. Me and my crew and my parents and sis and her family all go to the beach every year. So, that is where I was. I am looking forward to coming to the one at your house. My birthday is the 19th of Sept. and my anniversary is the 21st. So, John and I plan a get away some time around there. But maybe the bash will be before or after that so I don't miss it.

Melissa,
I am glad to hear that Stacy is doing better. I hope she continues to get better. Please let me know if you need anything. I am always here for you. How is your new job going? I hope that it is much less stressful than your previous one. You have too much going on in your life to be stressed out by work. Take care of yourself.
Rhonda
Things are going great. I really like my new job and the people I work with are really nice. It is much less stress too. I hope it stays that way.
Staci's check up yesterday in New Orleans went pretty well too. The surgery she had in May was more successful than they thought and healed better than they had planned. She will not have to have any pieces of intestines removed at this time. She will just have a surgery in November to patch one more place that has a small hole. They have to wait until November because of allowing more healing time from the surgery in May. She will have it done during Thanksgiving break.
Hope to see you guys soon. Maybe we can get together soon.
Melissa
I am so glad that your job is great. I am still looking for a new one myself. I am still praying that something with the school system here will pay out. I really want to go to work for the school district. That way I can have off most of the time that Brandon is out and won't have to keep worrying about taking leave, etc. I don't think I told you, but I changed my major in college, from business to elemetary education. Big change for me, but I want a job that is rewarding, and helping kids is very rewarding. I love spending time with kids. I want to teach. Anyway, I am excited about that! It is also a job that is needed everywhere the military may take us.
Lets plan something to get together. Brandon is back in GA, we will go to pick him up the weekend of the 28th. This weekend, we don't really have any plans. Then school starts back here on the 4th, but we can still come up for a weekend. I want to come up for a luncheon one day soon, so that I can see everyone. I will look at my calendar and see when I can work out a luncheon, it will be in August I am sure.
Talk to you soon,
Rhonda
Melissa,
I am so glad to hear that your sister is doing better. I hope and pray that the swelling in her lymph nodes goes down so she does not have to go thru having a biopsy. Bless her heart, she has been thru so much already!
I am so glad that you are happy with your new job! We sure did miss you at the bash in Brookhaven, hope to see you at the next one!
Love,
Marci
