:-) At the starting point!!!
Hello Everyone ... hope and pray that all is well with you and yours!!!
I am at the starting line officially with my WLS trail. I met with my PCP Monday. I have hypertension and this past spring my glucose level has been showing an elevation of 125/130. This is largely due to my obesity; my sons are very sensitive about my sleep habits due to an incidence when they declared I actually stopped breathing for a few minutes once.
Sooooooooo... my glucose level is being addressed as borderline type II diabetes; my bp med has been doubled along with taking lasix as needed (80 mg/daily if necessary); I am being scheduled for sleep apnea testing, colonscopy and endoscopy as soon as they can be scheduled.
I am taking a fasting blood workup in 3 weeks and scheduled to meet with my doctor in 4 weeks. My doctor is very thorough and in favor of WLS; however, he wants to get my levels 'in shape'... He is extremely supportive and one of the few physicians I know of who actually take an entire hour plus with each patient.
I presently weigh 350 lbs and have begun to work on "awareness" of exactly what I eat and trying to eliminate empty calories. I really need to focus on an exercise routine; since being off on summer vacation it is soooooo easy to "sleep in"... -)
Whew!!! This is a good ending point ....
s keep you all safe,
Wanda Mack
I am worn out just reading all that!!! WOW!
But you are off to the races with this WLS thingie, and a'fore you know it, you shall be a loser!!! My best advice is to find someone's profile that was larger than you, had more medical problems, and has had the surgery and is doing well. Then read the profile daily and tell yourself, "if they can, I surely can." Hang in there, patience is God's favorite thing to teach, I think!

Wanda,
Congrats on being on the starting line. I am right there with you. My PCM is being very stubborn about my surgery. You would know I would get a doctor who does not agree with WLS. I finally got her to agree to it but I also have to get a few more tests done. My TSH came back a little high and I have to get an ultrasound done on that just to make sure I do not have any more complications before she will refer me. I wish you lots of luck with your journey! Keep in touch with us!
Hugs,
Danielle
