BLATENT PREJUDICE!!!

You know, I have always felt lucky when it comes to being prejudiced against. Hey, don't get me wrong, I know it has been done to me, but never "in your face" kinda way. Sure service could've been better, people not staring... but whatever... I just "pretend" it is not there. So tonight I could not *NOT* pretend. I won something off of ebay. Had to meet the guy at his job to pick it up (I agreed - hubby was in car waiting). So, he works at a nightclub. Now, mind you... I am leaving Home depot, hair is up in a messy bun, and I am dressed like I was doing housework - so not looking like "nightclub" material. AnyHOO... I go up to the bar and say, "Is Steve here?" Bartender says, "Steve who, manager or what?" I tell him I am not sure of Steves last name, that he just told me to ask for Steve. Barteneder says well he could be anywhere on the property (it is in a hotel), and that it could be a few minutes to go sit and wait. FINE... whatever... I am sitting, waiting... bartender goes NOWHERE. FINALLY after about 5 mins, he comes to me and says, what is your name. I tell him, and he leaves. Finally he gets another manager who comes over, "I am Jake, what can I do for you?" I said, "Um, get me steve... I bought something from him, and need to pick it up." He said, oh, ok... lemme go and find him. Another few minutes... a girl walks in. Skinny, midriff showing, pretty. Says, "I need to see Steve." GUESS WHAT!!! The dude takes her RIGHT across the HALLWAY to STEVE's OFFICE About that time, Jake comes over to me, and says, Oh here he is... So, I get my item, and leave I have NEVER had it so IN MY FACE before. Ouch, it kinda hurts... I long for the day that I am not the one sitting in the corner. Too bad anyone has to...

lol, I told hubby when I do lose my weight I wanna go back there and rub it in!! See what you missed out on getting to KNOW?? It would probably make me feel worse though to see how differently I get treated. So sad...

Hey Connie , I am so sorry you had to go throught that but,the sad thing is prejudice against fat people be they black or white is still the only world wide accepted prejudice. It is like we are invisible. I have had to deal with a situations similar to yours the problem is,I have a large mouth to go along with my fat behind,but (evil grin) I have discovered there is one thing people like to deal with a lot less than a fat chic and that is a fat chic with a "big mouth" that will act a fool if provoked (evil grin). Sometimes ,you have to get down on thier level to get thier "attention". In the particular situations I have been in these people see me coming now and they try to wait on me as fast as possible to get me out of thier store.I am no expert on proper etiquette when it comes to people like that but, that's what has worked for me it may not be the right way to handle it but,the people that are that blatent need to see that they are wrong........Hugggggggggs..........Sherry

i hate that for u girl. i had something similar happen to me at the express store at the mall before i had my surgery. i was just in there looking around and what i wished i could wear and what i wanted to wear after surgery! well i was in there for 20 minutes and noone asked me if i needed any help and this sorority girl walked and in cute as a button and they asked her right away and told all about what was on sale!!! i was so mad. i couldve been shopping for my little sister for all they know, i was so glad they their store got messed up during the hurricane and they wont be coming back to turtle creek!!! new york and co never did me that way and still shop there to this day! and there is one girl in there that has helped since i was a size 20.she is really sweeet and says she cant believe that i a size 6 now!!! she wants surgery too!i love their clothes and most of them arent too expensive and when u get those coupons in the mail is when i would go buy a new set of a different size that i needed. their platinum jeans are my favorite jeans but i only buy them when they are on sale usually half off bc they arent cheap but their other jeans are pretty inexpensive for the shrinking body and they are always having a bogo half off sale on their stuff. anyway just wanted to let u know that u arent alone it happens all the time and everywhere but it wont be long u wont have to worry about it!!! crystal
