A LITTLE CONCERNED
Hi everyone, as I stated before, I had the drain removed tues, It was red and crusted over and doc s said it was fine. Well today it is still red and tender so I put neosporin on it. About 30 min later it started oozing stuff. I figure it May be good for it but I don't know, it doesn't have a bad smell and it's not throbbing, just very tender, I have a loose bandage on it but don't know what if anything else to do. How is everyone? I know hardly anybody post on fri, so have a good weekend
Hi Brenda, it sounds like you are looking after it well. One question, is the oozing clear? Clear fluid (Serus fluid) would be pretty normal to some extent. This fluid can be clear to straw color. If it turns milky/***** or if you can feel a distinct knot under the incision, then I would be more concerned. If you start to run a fever of 100 or better, definately call Dr. S. Keep the loose bandage mainly to protect your clothing, but not necessarily to stop the flow. It should stop on its own. Hang in there, james.
hi james, thanks, it is sort of straw colored and it was kind of hard beneath it but since draining it has softened up, but it has been draining, soaking my gown even in the hosp. they weren't overly concerned, but i am a little, but it seems i feel better after it started back, i will wait and see, thank you all again. i hope you are doing well james
Hey Brenda,
My incision where they removed my drain oozed for nearly 5 days after it was removed and mine was soooooo tender too .I wouldn't worry as long as the fluid is clear ,you pretty much have to keep a loose bandage on it so that you don't wet your clothes, but if you are concerned, I would call the doc........hope it heals up soon ......huggggs....Sherry
