Its me again
Oh Joyce...I'm so sorry that you're having such sadness. Is there anything I can do to help? This is such an emotional time....dealing with the surgery, dealing with not eating, losing weight...all those emotional issues..and then there's a scientific explanation, too....the hormonal shift that's going on inside your body as your fat cells are shrinking...and the hormones in your brain that have been triggered by lack of what you're used to eating...
*hugs* try to work through this. take it one 5-minute block at a time. don't look too far into the future...and definitely no dwelling on the past. just live for the moment and live it up!!
we're here for you. you can write me if you'd like. i'm a good listener.

Hi Joyce, Sorry to hear you are so down. Call Dr. Salameh at once. He will put you on something to help you. I saw him after seeing my psycristic(sp) and he told me this was common for gastric bypass. He will take care of you. Hope you can hang on. It usually takes about 14 days for the meds to work so start them and don't miss any. I will pray for you because I understand. Smiles, Jan
Hi Joyce,
My name is Kathy, I am from Mccomb, dont know if you have ever heard of it. I have been reading your messages. I see where you went to Dr. Salameh. I have a appointment with him on the 11th of April.
I was wondering if you would mind telling me about him and your surgery and what I can expect. If you don't mind. I am excited about it but yet a little nervous and scared but I know that is just human nature.
I would appreciate any help that u can give me.
Also would like to continue to chat if you would like to.
Looking forward to hearing from you
Take Care
Kathy
Hey Kathy! Welcome to the board! I am very glad to see you here! I had my surgery on the coast at Keesler AFB Medical Center, but I do know Dr. Salameh and he is a great surgeon, plus he is a veyr kind compassionate man. Here is a link to reviews by his patients, tho it doesn't seem to have been updated recently!

Hi Joyce,
My prayers are with you. I've been away from the boards alot and I don't know the details of what you're going through but I know soon after I had my surgery, I began taking Paxil. My surgeon's psychologist said that it may happen post WLS due to hormonal fluctuations caused by losing the fat, especially if you are prone to PM. Hormones are stored in our fat and when it starts to burn away we are flooded with hormones. Paxil really helped me get through it and now I've switched to Wellbutrin and I am pleased. Don't hesitate to get medical intervention for depression. You don't have to feel hopeless, there is help!

Hey Joyce,
Try to remember why you had this surgery. I haven't had it yet, but I know personally about depression. Concentrate on your goals. You may have to look for short term goals first, then begin to see the larger picture as you feel able to. Take it one day, or one hour at a time, whatever is right for you right now.
Everyone is right about talking to your doctor. He needs to know and there are good medications that can help with depression.
You are doing the right thing by reaching out. Keep doing that. Everyone will be there for you, just as you have been there for them. I am sure there are people on this board all night if you need them
Keep up the good work that you have started.
Dyan
P.S. Remember you told me I was not alone, well you are not alone either. We love you.
Joyce,
I pray you will soon feel better. I personally take Zoloft for panic attacks. It helps to calm my nerves. I needed it after surgery. You may need to check into getting an antidepressant at least for awhile. I also found that getting a lot of rest helped. Hang in there. You will soon feel better.
