Anyone with BCBS-Ms not state? Help my friend needs it

I have a friend with this insurance do they pay for surgery or are they still fighting it? I told my friend i would check for him

It's a waste of time. The vast majority of us in MS have BCBS MS and it will not cover WLS; however, it will cover open heart surgery, limb amputations secondary to uncontrolled diabetes, numerous meds for asthma and hypertension. Hopefully, your friend will be able to work something out financially since CMMC has lowered its price by more than 50%. Tell him good luck!!!!

My PCP told me the reason BCBS does not pay for WLS. She said a rep from BCBS was at a conference she went to a few months ago. Someone asked him why they will not pay. He said several years they did pay and paid for about 30-40 people to have WLS. 2 of them had complications that cost well over a million dollars each so they had to stop paying for it. I think it is a bunch of bull. Just think how much they pay out for all the complications obesity causes. I am sure it is well over a million dollars too!! I have state of mississippi bcbs. I am lucky to be on my DH's insurance too. They(mail handlers,a federal insurance) will pay 90% after meeting certain qualifications.
