A time to vent
I just need to get this off my chest. My surgeon's office called me yesterday and told me that in addition to my deductible ($400) I would be required to pay the 20% that insurance is not paying upfront ($1500). It really pissed me off because I have been dealing with these people since Oct. and I just felt like this is not news you tell someone 6 days before their surgery. What if I didn't have it?!! Then there goes the waiting process again. Can we say communicate with the client please?!!!! Thanks for listening.

Thats just the surgeon's fee. For him and his assistant it's 7500. I'm not sure how much it is for hospitalization, etc. My insurance is paying 100% less the deductible. His name is Dr. Edward Facundus. My sister in law is looking into a Doc in Covington, La. She went to a seminar and said they charge around 13,000 for the surgeon, hosp, and 1 year of post op visit. They take 3000 down and monthly payments. I can get his name if you want.

Yeah, they could have let you know sooner!!! My insurance paid well also, I had a small deductible, but also had to pay the 20% up front (about $1,300 I think), they did tell me a little sooner than you though, although I only paid it just a few days before surgery. Good surprise though, about six months later, I got back about $1,200 because insurance paid my doc a little better than they expected. The $1,300 was just an estimate, so maybe you'll get that surprise also (we can always hope).
SO, are you having surgery in six days, and where? (You may have said, but I don't always remember things from a few days ago (or sometimes a few hours ago - LOL)...DeAnna.
