So after the first phase where you're still on all sf stuff, liquids, and mushed up food, what are some of the general foods that you've had to cut out?

HAHA YOU ASKING ME? J/k I was BAD! I do think i remember i was supposed to be on mushy foods during the 2nd phase. I cut out breads, of course sugar( thats SUPPOSED to be for good, but you know i'm bad), RICE was a biggy that i was scared to try for a long time. I cant realy remember what i wasnt supposed to have. I do remember eatting alot of mashed taters, refried beans and cheese, cottage cheese, yogart, soft cooked eggs, or veggies cooked until mushy s/f puddings and jello.ALL DRs are differant in what they allow so FOLLOW your Drs orders. I do wish i could go back and do it again , i would follow directions . Thank goodness i never had any touble , its a wonder! lol DAWN~~

Hey Brandi, From my experience, you need to avoid anything with caffiene in it, sugary foods or anything with sugar period, greasy foods make me really sick, so I would avoid those. Fatty cuts of meat are really bad too, I ate a piece of roast and I was sick for about 2 hours, I threw it up and felt like I had chest pains and heartburn for about 2hours. It was extremely unpleasant. I guess that was dumping syndrome. You can find alternatives to sugar, like I love love love sugar free popsicles, you can make unsweet decaf tea with splenda, sugar free koolaid, I like that better than crystal light. well i hope ive helped some tootles crystal

I did Atkins for a year and was astonished at all the low carb and sf alternatives. Although the market isn't as plentiful now, since the craze has died down, I know I'll be able to order some things online. Another question: How do you order at restaurants? Do you just eat a little off of hubby's plate? Or do you order something, eat a little, then save the rest for leftovers?

The way I handle restaurants is I mostly order off the kids menu unless hubby is getting something I might eat. But if I order my own thing at the time I order I make it very clear that I want a very small dinner plate along with the plate they bring me and a take home box. When I get my food I right then and there more than half my food and put the rest in the take home box. out of sight out of mind! and then place the other food on that smaller plate. Believe it or not just you seeing all that food on that small plate makes a huge difference in your brain. It makes you think you are actually having more food than you are. I also try to eat very slowly. Such as putting my fork down after each bite and trying to chew it at least 10-20 times. YOu know enjoying your food. Might sound really silly but try it I swear it works! Now trust me this is not something I have always practiced but we atteneded a seminar this weekend where the speakers really kinda of broke it all down for us. And we practiced the slower eating and it really really does work. As far as the food choices just try and follow low calorie, low carb, low fat diet. Choose high protein in between meals to tide you over. I find that I might have to nibble something about every 2-3 hours. Another tip we got is when in a restaurant or even at home if you drink warm liquid about 20 min before your meal you will not eat as much during your meal. denise

Adkins still works well for me, and fresh meat and veggies seem to be great. I do eat more fruit now, but no grapes, dumpsville! When we go out to eat, the portions are usually so large that we order a regular meal, maybe an extra salad or side and a extra drink. Then Don just shares some of the plate with me and I have a mini meal. We both feel full but not overstuffed! Neither of us can eat a normal restaurant US portion anymore.......

yhea yhea all those things that Crystal said, i forget things if they are not fresh in my mind! LOL When i go out i did sometimes eat off hubbys plate, BUT we dont usually like the samethings. I would order my own and take the rest home and either i or my family would take care of the rest. Some places with give you a half a order if you ask real nice and only charge you half the price. I tend to OVER EAT when i go out though so i have been trying to stay clear of resterants , until i get off the rest of this wt or until i learn how not to be a HOG! LOL

Well ..... Ya know you DONT have to eat off hubby's plate. We have found that a lot of places DO NOT MIND giving you an order on two plates. We go to Ruby Tuesdays a lot ( LOVE their peppercorn steak!) and ask them for it to split it to two plates. Since hubby started watching his weight, we do well with it.. I just eat my part of the steak, he ends up with all the sides on his plate ( I don't do sides. I might have one onion ring for flavor and that's enough ) If a restaurant doesn't let you split orders, or you don't like what hubby likes.. yeah.. we just order two regular meals and I always take mine home. That's lunch for work two more days LOL Most of the restaurants will ask " was your food okay" since even though I FEEL LIKE I EAT A LOT, I really don't. They think the food was bad, thats why I didnt hardly touch it. So I'm just nice and tell the waiter, no, it was fine, I just can't eat much. I had surgery.... no further explanation, it makes them happy and they won't ask you again lol ( Ruby Tuesday's and Sticky Fingers' waitresses already know us by now )

Thats funny that you said that about the waiter asking if your food was okay... Melissa and I ate breakfast Saturday morning and we were practising mindful eating by taking a bite and putting fork down. The waitress came by and said "Is everything okay?"... haha... I am sure we looked like it wasnt good. We were both sitting back in our chairs... haha... How is Florida???
