I got a letter from UMC the other day saying that I owed then $19,984.00 I called them and told them I had filled out for finanical assisstance they said that they didn't know anything about it. So i set up a payment plan of $50.00 a month. Well yesterday I got a letter from UMC saying that I had been approved for finanical assistance and that my new balance was $0.00 So all I had to pay for my surgury was the $7,000 that I had to pay up front. I am truly blessed. I just wanted to share this with you all. Love yall. Joyce

My daughter (25) and I are looking to have this surgery out of necessity, but neither of us have insurance. How can we find a place that will either finance the surgery, or have some kind of grant for it? I have searched all over for some help but am never able to find a viable answer. We're getting pretty desperate to find a way to finance this surgery. She is 400 pounds and cannot find a job and has a great deal of difficulty attending classes at the university, especially since they don't want to accomodate for weight a lot of times. I need to lose 150 - 170 pounds and have tried all kinds of programs with little to no success. What is UMC and how can we find a way to qualify?

UMC is the University Medical Center in Jackson. I can't help much, but I'm sure you would do best by contacting the bariactric area of the hospital and asking them some questions.

The frist thing u need to do is get an appointment with Dr. Salameah. Then fill out for patient finicinal assistance with the hospital. If I can help you in anyway e-mail me [email protected] Surgury 2-27-06 -49pounds
