Please help!!!!
Just take a deep breath. You are probably having head hunger---withdrawals from real food or just a mind thing. Have you tried drinking hot chocolate or maybe jello. That would be fine. Dont necessarily look for something thicker just something to make you happy that is about the same consistentcy of broth. Cook real veggies like string beans or cabbage and drink a little of the broth.
I don't know ---hopefully this will help. You may be having some anxiousness. Try a benadryl. Okay I am grasping for straws.
Call me and we'll talk. 601 795 0853 I will be up late

Had surgery in April 2005 Gastric bypass down 131 pds
Im not up much on what all you can have with the lap band, but if its the same as the Rny diet, i would try sugar free popcycles , jello ? Can you have a protein shake yet maybe just mixed with water if you cant have milk yet. I Do know how you feel though i can remember being so hungrey a few days out and all i could have was clear liquids, not fun! Just Keep you chin up , it WILL get better, you will eat again. Did your Dr not send you home with a list of things and amounts that you can have? Are you getting in enough other liquids, water , crystal light , sugar free kool aid, decaf tea? It might be thirst thats making you feel so hungrey. Im not sure if i was much help or comfort , but i do remember what it felt like , i even cryed over food in the begining so its ok if you do too.
DAWN~~
If the band is anything like the RNY that soup is going right thru you. I dont know what you are allowed to have right now. At 4 days post op you shouldnt feel hungry at all if it is similar to the RNY... but you may be having head hunger issues.
I dont know much at all about the bad but hold on and dont cry - that will make it worse. Call your nutritionist or your doctor in the morning.
Hey sweetie,
Most of us have had gastric bypass and are not up to date on the lap band. There is a lap band forum that you can go to and they will be better able to help you. Here's my number in case you need to talk, 601-914-2921 - just bear in mind that until Sunday I have both kids home and we are out and about, but if I miss you I will call you back....or shoot me an email with your number and I will call you. You hang in there! Most of us hated everybody and everything for a day or two or longer right after surgery, but we got over it! We will support you any way we can....Please post often and let us know how it is going....We need to learn more about you banders so that we can be of more help - and we all have food issues or we wouldn't be here! The best thing you can do right now is to take it easy on yourself and remember this is a LONG journey and things WILL get better and you've got the BEST support group in the world right here!

I had the band for 3 years...and have a friend who was banded the same day as I and she is now 5 years out. We both had trouble (and she still does) eating in the morningtime. We found if you drink something warm (like cocoa or coffee or warm tea) that it would help relax the pouch. we were always able to eat better late evening.
You're still so early out that your stomache is probably spasm-ing. it's also swollen inside your stoma (the area inside the stomache where the band is on the outside of your stomache) so it *doesn't* drain as fast as it will eventually. Your diet will be nothing like the RNY. I was revised to a RNY 3 weeks ago and let me tell you it's NOTHING like the band even this far.
My band was quite ticky. I never could tolerate bread or sodas (probably attributed to why I lost 160 pounds with the band in a year and a half--and that included a pregnancy).
Just remember to sip sip sip. Your pouch will stay full for quite some time before emptying to your lower stomache(thus the really slow digestive process). I know people (including surgeons) will say "oh, it's like a funnel, it will pour right through". that was never my experience. I could only take something in about every 4 to 6 hours. Even a year out, it'd take me a day to eat a pack of nabs.
My best advise, though, and my still-banded friend agrees, start your day with something warm. and once you get it going (i.e. you're able to tolerate a few sips, then keep it going..sip as often as you can stand it wihtout feeling nauseated).
good luck with yours. my friend still loves her band--she's lost like 150 pounds and still loses slowly (she now eats pretty much what she wants so her loss slowed over the years...but she's happy 'cause she's never gained a pound since being banded).

Thank you guys so much . You have all been so helpful. I am better today. I think I was just missing food after I cooked for my family I think thats the hardest thing I will have to do. I was addicted to food . I just loved to eat .I took a 30 min. walk and that seemed to clear my mind. Again thank you guys I could'nt do this with out your support. My email is [email protected] and My phone number is 731-926-6928
The hardest thing was to cook for my family after surgery. You are only 4 days post op - I was still in hospital at 4 days post op. My family fended for themselves for a week or so after I got home. I would leave the house or make them go out and eat.
You are not the only one who LOVED to eat. I still do love to eat - Just eat smaller quantities and make better choices.
Your going to do just fine!
