Hey Laura So glad you posted. We will definitely find a solution for you around here. Why haven't you had surgery? I read your profile and you were seemingly on your way to the surgery. I worked on having mine for 3 years so I know what waiting is about. Don't give up. Keep on keeping on!! Joyce can tell you about being up and down and FINALLY getting there. Hey Joyce speak up!!!!!!!!!! Laura needs you, gal!! I can't type much tonight as I am sooooo tired. Long day with the kids having dentists appts in Slidell and then straight to church from there. Please post again soon. I had surgery at UMC with Dr Salameh in April 2005. He is nice. Love and prayers Jane

Laura, I assume you are trying to lose the weight in order to get under 500 for the surgery? When I was trying to lose weight without surgery, Atkins was always my first choice. It really does work and it's basically what we live by after surgery. Get the book if you don't have it. Eat protein first and cut out/limit your carbs to the recommended amount. Next, get out and walk if you can. Anytype of excersize you can do will help. Even if it's excersize from your chair - there are aerobic tapes for that. I will also suggest calling CMMC's Bariatric center at 601-376-2474. They now offer a non-surgery weight loss plan, using the shakes as meal replacements I believe. I have friends who have seen my success with the surgery, and decided they would just eat how I do and it's working for them. It's not as "easy" because they are hungrier than I am, but it is working. They use baby plates or the small desert plates that come with your china set and eat only that amount. NO SECONDS. Always eat the protein first. Keep the carbs to green things.... salad, green beans, broccoli, etc... No whites and no yellows. You will find that once you decrease your carbs you will not be as hungry. Protein fills you up much faster. I would also suggest going to your PCP and talking to them. Maybe they could give you something to help, or recommend a good program or nutritionist in your area. YOU CAN DO THIS!!! Lean on us for support - we've all been there! Keep us posted on your progress! HUGS Kimberly
