Alright... dismiss EVERY word I typed in the earlier posting. Sonya from Surgical Specialists (affliates with Southern Surgical Hospital) called to confer with me regarding insurance. Turns out that they are OUT OF NETWORK for Tricare Prime BUT can take a referral for Tricare Standard. I apologize for jumping the gun... Then on the other hand, those who might have tricare standard are likely candidates for prompt clearance ... Sorry for the earlier postings... This definitely was NOT an encourager for me ... Hi Wanda... Heads up about keesler... Dr. Jenkins is not 100% sure that they are bringing back the bariatric surgery. He said he is fighting every day for it... The date they are looking forward to is October. On the other hand, if you don't mind the drive, there are 2 docs that seem very good in Pensacola florida, and they accept tri care prime. Dr. Lord is one, and he actually teaches other docs how to do it as well. He is having a confrence next month. Let me know if you are interested and I'll give you the details and phone number! Good luck... keep me informed of what you find out, and where you stand with the sugery. It would be nice to have someone going through this about the same time Connie

Thanks for the reply Connie ... please send me the info you have and I will check into it as well. I am assuming that the name you have is one referred by tricare prime and is in network??? Husband and I are at a stand still right now. We spoke with Sonya again and she encouraged us to switch back to standard; however, if I am not mistaken prime would really be more advantageous overall. Geeezzz!!! I am such a newbie ... Again...thanks for your info and help. Looking forward to your reply with the info!! God bless, Wanda

Hi wanda, Here is Dr. Lords page... all his testimonials sing his praises. He is also retired Navy... so he understands the military. http://obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/bariatric+surgeon+profile+Jeffrey+Lord+lrl.html It seems Dr. Nye has done more open surgeries, but Dr. Lord has done more lap. Here is Dr. Nye's profile. http://obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/bariatric+surgeon+profile+John+D+Nye+dsh.html You may have to copy and past them. They are both in the network and listed on the humana military site, and they both accept tricare prime. Dr. Lords office said there is an out of packet expense of $450 (around that) for the physch and nutrition eval... but I think you have to pay out of pocket for those anyhow... He is having a seminar on the 15th of June. If you end up going let me know and I'll look for you there. Where are you in the process? Have you gotten a referral yet? I got a referral, but they sent me to the wrong dr... So I have to call and have it changed to Dr. Lord's on Monday. I am excited. God Bless, Connie
