You can use any type of protein shake that you like that your tummy can tolerate. There is no one certain brand. You will try several before you find one that you really like. I would suggest ordering samples from bariatriceating.com and unjury to begin with, or if you can buy samples from gnc. But don't buy a whole container of one kind and be stuck with something you don't like. Best of luck! Rhonda

You can buy shakes from GNC, but you need to be aware that the shake should not have any sugar at all in it!!!! It will cause you to be very ill and to dump. Some people have been given protein drinks in hospital which caused them to be very sick and they did not realize the problem. I like Isopure No-Carb, it is not strong and the vanilla is nice to drink, cause you can flavor it with other things to make a number of different drink combos, however, most things tasted horrible after surgery, and the Isopure and the Unjury tasted the best, cause they were so mild. I blended them with skim milk and ice to make a smoothie. If you cannot tolerate milk, then you can use soy milk or water and they do taste good. Unjury was developed especially for weight loss surgery patients. They have an efficient order system and the containers are not too large. The protein drinks are expensive, but you will need them, and they help you to heal. Susan Maria has the trial packets, a lot of them, I just could not stand some of the flavors, and some had something that made my tummy ache! But everyone has different tastes, and what you like before surgery may not be what you like after surgery! Also, you will feel full so rapidly, it takes time to build up, and so it is a big job after surgery to consume enough protein and fluids.........

Hi Missie Well, yeah, the hairloss is practically guaranteed, only a few very lucky ones don't lose a single hair ( Like Dex?? he's one of those ). I started losing mine the second I got out of the hospital it seems and according to hubby, we could have made a wig out of the amounts that were collectively amassed on the carpet and the shower drain. However, I did have a lot of hair to start with, and it only looked ratty for about a month and then started to come back in. I never lost it all and now it's healthy as can be again. So, don't freak yourself out, you won't go bald and it will come back. However.. like in my case.. it MAY come back wavy and curly LOL ( drawback.. now I gotta iron it every morning, but that's a small price to pay for healthy looking hair ! ) Make sure you take your supplements and protein ( preferrably from food but shakes are good too ) that should keep your loss to a minimum. There's just no magic trick. 99% of us lose hair, to some degree. Save yourself the money and don't bother with those expensive hair treatments. Take care, have a good President's Day and a great week!! ~Andie~ 335/195 /175 (20 lbs to goal and never gonna get there but hey thats cool )
