Newbie, what to expect
Next step-- sit back and be patient. It is such a slow process. Most likely they will get the requirements from your insurance company. That is usually proof of supervised drs diet, psycho test, nutritionist eval, etc... They will get you to get all that together and send it into insurance.
What doctor are you planning on using?
At my appointment - the nurse talked to me, weighed me, measured me and then the Doctor talked to me. They talked about what he does, how big the pouch is, what eating feels like, etc... The risks are also talked about and the side effects.
My 1st visit lasted about an hour and a half. It was very detailed.
Hey!
Welcome to the family! I don't know exactly how it goes with CMMC, but I will tell you that most places it is hurry up and wait! Alot of us experienced LENGTH waits, so try real hard to be patient. In the meantime, feel free to post long and often and whine and fuss as much as you need! We ALL do!
Again welcome Home!

Well, I may can help you out with this one. I am definitely a newbie to the board. You will find that this group is great bunch and very supportive.
Now to the question at hand. I just had my initial eval on 2/2 with Ms. Neal at CMMC. They get you to sign some release papers so your PCP can get copies of everything and that your xrays are only stored for so long. Then they take you and get vital signs and weight. Then basically Ms. Neal comes in and goes over your history that you filled out line by line and makes her own little notes. Then she said we will send it in to your insurance and we will get back to you.
Both of my insurances have exclusion policies for WLS. So I get to bypass the denial and approval letters from insurance. I now have the daunting task of coming up with the moolah! I think after the appt you will just be waiting to see if insurance approves you and then what specialty areas you will have to be evaled on such as psych, cardiac, pulmonology and what not. You are more than welcome to email me at any time with any questions or just to talk. [email protected]
If you can keep up your posts here on the site. They are uplifting and very informative. Especially when it boils down to what to eat afterwards.

Hey! I had my initial consultation at CMMC yesterday. Sandra weighed me and took my blood pressure and pulse. Then Ms. Neal came in and went over everything that I had wrote on the medical history. She said my insurance company would pay if medically necessary, so we tried to come up with a reason for medically necessity since I don't have hardly any co-morbidities. She asked me which doctor I wanted, then went over my family medical history. She told me I would have to have a clearance letter from my primary care doctor and probably from a cardiac doctor(since I've had several family members die suddenly from cardiac problems). She really didn't even mention anything about the surgery or complications you can have with it. I signed some papers and then she told me it could take them up to 8 weeks to file the papers with the insurance company, so sit back and wait. After they hear something from the insurance company, they will let me know what else I need to do.
A co-worker of mine went there 3 weeks ago and she told me yesterday that it only took them 2 weeks to file a claim with her insurance. Sandra told me that she was still working on sending in a claim for last weeks patients, so hopefully it won't take the full 8 weeks.
Good luck and don't worry about anything. Ms. Neal said that the first visit is only a screening visit to see if she thinks you are able to have the surgery.

Jereni,
HI! And Welcome! I used CMMC. I went to my first seminar Jan 27th of last year, filled out the paperwork etc.... Met with the Nurse Practitioner (Ms. Neal) and it was all in their hands from there. I had my surgery in July. So that's the time frame I had. It's not the same for everyone. Just depends on how many hoops you have to jump through. I had to have all the tests! So, just hang in there and be ready to wait. We'll be here for ya!
Are you planning on coming to the support group meeting Tuesday night? I know it's valentines day, but we are still doing it! I'm speaking at it and telling my story. We are also having another speaker, but I can't remember which doc it is. So.... just come and get to know everyone and start with the support now! It's so important. Since we are neighbors, we could ride together if ya want? I think I have another rider too. So... just let me know!
HUGS
