Low Pulse?

I went to the doctor because I had a kidney stone. I have had them before and after surgery. The doctor was more concerned with my pulse rate. It was 47 beats per minute. She did an EKG and is having me where a heart monitor for 24 hours. She is concerned that my heart rate may be dropping into the 20's and 30's when I sleep. Has anyone else experienced this? Sonya

Mine has been in the 60's, but I was told that was okay. My husbands is always in the 50's or so. I was concerned about that, but then I was told the healthier you are the lower your heart beats per minute. But obviously your doctor thought differently. Please let us know what you find out. Are you feeling okay? Any headaches, nausea or chest pains? Did you have sleep apnea prior to WLS? Best of luck to you.. Rhonda, I tried to explain to the doctor that my heart rate usually runs in the mid 50's. She said mid fifties would be O.K. but forties and thirties are too low. I think she is being overly cautious. I guess that is better than being unconcerned, Thanks, Sonya

Hey Sonya, Sorry I can't help out with any info about your heart rate & all. I can keep you in my prayers though. Bless you on the kidney stones!!! Did she give you anything to ease the pain? I sure hope so. I keep my pain meds close by at all times (I'm scared to death of having more). I have seen more & more people posting on the main board about their having kidney stones after surgery also. Its a scarry thing & as you know they are not fun at all. Prayers & Blessings, Tammy

Tammy, Thanks for your support. I have had a few stones in my day. This is my first since surgery. I was given pain meds. but I was afraid to take them until the heart monitor test is completed. I am afraid the meds. will slow my heart rate and the doctor would panic for no reason. However, I am in so much pain right now that I will probably take meds. soon. Thanks, Sonya
