Friday night on ABC's 20/20 the show is called 'Stupid in America'. 9:00 pm local time Should be a very interesting story. They are going to talk about schools in the US. And yes.... discuss things that I've been saying for a very long time. We are dumbing down our schools so EVERYONE will pass. The smarter kids are being cheated. Instead of making it so much easier for the slower kids to pass, someone should work on getting help in the schools!!! So what if a child is held back a grade or two. If it improves their education, it is going to benifit everyone in the long run. Fix our schools & Then everyone wins. Finally, something in the media about this situation. I just wonder how many people are still going to deny that this even happens. http://abcnews.go.com/2020/Stossel/story?id=1491217

Thanks for reminding me! I saw the ad for this and wanted to watch it - but hardly watch TV so I figured I had missed it. I agree with everything you are saying. I have also homeschooled my children. I'm not real crazy about school, but oh well. They enjoy going...most of the time. LOL Can't wait to hear what they say -- and all the hoopla that's gonna follow it! HUGS Kimberly

I remember Jon's kindergarten teacher (in a Department of Defense School) saying I needed to make him quit asking so many questions in class because it was taking up too much of her time answering them....I asked if the questions were related to what they were learning or were they just frivilous....she said related....I am a big fan of Homeschooling and did that for a while....I like a small school system where everybody knows everybody....and I wanna know where all the casino money is going that was supposed to be earmarked for making our schools better..... Smoochies Arlies PS I have also had coaches change the permanent records of MY students so they could move up and grade and play high school football....and when I went to the principal, he backed the coaches.....

Some teachers, not all, but some are only there for a pay check. We have them in our schools also. I've even had teachers tell me that they knew teaching was the perfect job to have because where else could they work 9-10 months out of the year & get paid a full years pay. With all the perks to boot. There are several people in my neighborhood that home-school their kids. I'd love to do it. But Boo loves going to the school she is in. So we will stick with it till she changes her mind. Or should I say if she changes her mind. Oh my words...... I can't believe you said that !!! Your gonna speak out against the schools & some parents making sports more important than the actual teaching of our kids? Do remember when I said that was going on in the schools ? I got slammed big time for that !!! And the slammer knew that it was true. I still say that sports should be paid for by the parents. & I'll stick to that statement till the end of time !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For the new readers let me make this understood.....This is my point of view. Schools put too much money into sports programs. They pay for the kids to get to & from the games, equipment, coaches, the place they play (gym, fields, etc.), lighting for night games, etc. If half the money that was spent on sports was put into educating these kids whether it be teachers, computers, supplies or what ever, the schools would be better. And then... not only would the jocks benefit, EVERYONE would. It is NOT a schools responsibility to make these kids Sports Super Stars. It IS the schools responsibility to educate kids to be productive citizens. Tammy
