Today's Tip: Road Trip Snacks

If you need some healthy snacks for the road, our dietitian suggests trying celery stalks filled with peanut butter, unsalted nuts and seeds, dried fruit, and pre-popped light microwaved popcorn. Additional ideas include dry cereal, whole grain pretzels and crackers, baby carrots, cherry tomatoes, 4 oz. cups of applesauce, tomato juice, and bottled water. *That sounds better than a bag of cheetos to me!*

It certainly does! I like just plain ole soy nuts, although none of my family does - oh well, more for me, and the cherry tomatoes...Thanks for the reminder. D.

It will all be worth the sacrifices in the end. Just keep reminding yourself of that.. I have a sick child, he has been sick since Friday with a virus, and unfortunately I have been feeling pretty icky this morning myself, I think I am going to do just soup today to see if that will help my tummy.. So you can pretend that I am doing the all liquid diet with you... the things we will do for our friends. Find something to keep yourself busy all day... keep your mind off of it. Go window shopping for a new bra... Or a size smaller in clothes.. Just do anything to get your mind off of tomorrow so you are not so nervous.. At least until you have to do the icky drink that makes you live in the bathroom... Love ya, Rhonda

Thanks for the tips. Although no salted nuts. Thats what eat them for the salt. I love the salt. I've kinda gotten into chips lately and I ride. Bad Bad Bad it hasn't gotten out of control so I better stop now. Becky

HEY!!! You didn't list my old traveling food - a bottle of coke (diet caffiene free in my case) with a bag of salted peanuts in them!! Until the kids found out that was good, I could make one last 1/2 a day!!!! But now since I only drink flat sodas, I don't like flat cokes so no more traveling food for me....And don't forget the ranch dip for the baby carrots!!! Smoochies Arlies
