Those with a few pounds to lose are often looking for a quick solution. The latest comes in the form of Zetacap, touted as "The world's first and only gastric bypass pill."
That's an outrageous claim to be sure, yet the company states 200,000 people worldwide are using the product. The new pill promises to completely transform your body in about 90 days -- or your money back. Sounds like the diet pills of yesteryear, right? But instead of caffeine and ephedra-based tabs that make you jittery, shaky and unable to sleep at night, Zetacap simply fills up your stomach.
Too Good to Be True?
With ingredients (which the company doesn't list on its Web site) that work to absorb water and form a gelatinous glob in your belly, Zetacap promises to reduce appetite and make you feel full before you even start your meal. Take one or two capsules 30 minutes before breakfast, lunch and dinner with an eight-ounce glass of water, and according to the manufacturer's Web site, you'll feel like you've just eaten a half-pound steak. And you allegedly won't be able to eat for the next five to six hours.
"If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is," says Milton Stokes, M.P.H., R.D., of the American Dietetic Association. "The Web site says it contains 16 all-natural ingredients, but the sun is natural and so is tobacco." In fact, many experts speculate that Zetacap is actually just a high-powered fiber supplement, particularly since the manufacturer warns that high dosages (more than nine capsules per day) may cause stomach or bowel irritation.
You certainly don't need to drop $75 a month to add fiber to your diet. Why not down some Metamucil instead? Better yet, load up on fiber-rich fruits, vegetables and whole grains. "Fiber keeps you feeling full for longer periods of time because it takes longer to digest," says Stokes. Anything with a lot of fiber, a lot of water and few calories is likely to have a similar effect.

This is the reason that the weight loss industry is a multi million dollar enterprise! Weight loss comes with diet and exercise. For persons who cannot lose and keep weight off, gastric surgery is probably the only alternative for the morbidly obese person. Anyone who spends money on these quack remedies is throwing their money away! Remember the prescription diet pills which worked and then caused people to have damaged valves in their hearts? Yep Fen-Fen! All this stuff is POISON! Don't be taken in by it...... It does not work!
