asking for prayers from my niece

Hi ya'll. First let me apologize for not being more active. I come & go, mostly lurking cuz I don't have much time now....especially since the girls are out for Summer break. Anyway, I'm asking ya'll to pray for my 4 yr old niece. Her name is Bethanie. She's been having lots of problems w/ her asthma & they went to have her checked last night at Wesley & found out she has pneumonia (sorry, I'm a bad speller!). They are running a test to find out what is causing it so they can give her the most effective meds. She could be in the hospital for anywhere from 2-5 days. Not sure if I've ever told ya about Bethie but she's our special girl & my hero. She has Down's Syndrome. 2 months before her 2nd birthday she was diagnosed with leukemia. She went into remission almost instantly but went thru about 6 months of chemo. She is still cancer free. She'll be 5 in Sept. She's the type (even when she had cancer) that has never been unhappy a day in her life. So please pray for her speedy recovery. Thanks!!! Melissa

Hi. Thanks ya'll. I'm going to back up a bit & then tell ya what we just found out. Ok, a little over a week ago Bethie had a virus. They took blood & swabbed her nose then. They ruled out Strep throat however they did find Strep in some of the tissue. So they gave her a penicillin shot & she was to come back in a month. Ok, I just talked to my sister & then sister in law. They did a heart echo & found fluid around her heart. They are thinking it has to do w/ the pneumonia. The dr. also talked to my sister in law & said they were about to run more test. They think she may have group A Strep. If it's Group A Strep it's very serious & rare & they will be transferred to Jackson or New Orleans. I don't know how soon we'll know but I'll come back & let ya'll know when I know more. Keep her in your prayers! Thanks again.

Hi! Great news! Dr. said he didn't know how (I do!) but Bethie's Xray last night looked alot better!! So for now she'll be staying in Hattiesburg instead of getting transferred! My mom may watch my girls for my DH & I to go to Hattiesburg to see her for a bit. Thanks for the prayers & thank the Lord!

Hi. Thanks everyone. We went to see Bethie yesterday & she is still very sick but was feeling better & would talk to us some. Her dr. said if she wouldn't have started getting better when she did & it was the group A Strep, she would have more than likely died. So we are very thankful. They had to up her oxygen & give her an extra breathing treatment last night though, but hopefully she'll be getting lots better soon. I'll update ya'll later! Thanks again!
