Goings on this past month....
I am very very tired and now am at work!!! Have a nasty cold I got from Don, he is suffering too with it!
Don's daughter, Lily, got married. We have three places, an apt. in Shanghai, a house (mine) in US, and a house in Hong Kong. We will sell the house in HOng Kong when we retire. My stuff is scattered all over the world and I forget where stuff is. Sometimes I go to look for things and then find them when I go home or to China! I will be glad when I have a bit more control over things and can remember what is where.
Teaching overseas is a lot more high pressure than in US. There you just have your teaching, and a duty sometimes, here they want tons more, such as planning for trips, proposals, clubs, long report cards, and other special projects. It takes tons of time to do all that stuff and we teach almost 20 days more than in US! Every year the load gets heavier and more stressful. Teachers work under contract and they can just not renew you at any time with no reason, so there is no job security. Principals are kings in their kingdom here, we had a beast of a principal for two years, and he finally left last year. Things are a bit better on that end, but still they want tons of stuff all the time, plus the teaching which has to go on......
Talking about skinny, YOU are really getting skinny!!!!! My middle is the thickest part of me, my legs are pretty small and arms but I guess that it takes longer to lose in the middle of the body. It is good though to look at clothes which look so small to me, and then try them on and they fit!!!
I am glad to be back on the board and seeing how all of you are doing!!!!
Love ya,
Cheryl
Hiya Cheryl!!!
Looks like you've had a LOT of things going on in your life last month, no wonder you were too busy to come talk to us
So maybe I'm ignorant and missed something the last few months here, being busy as always with work and moving to Florida.. but what's this about a wedding??? Wait...... u guys got married? Weren't you already?? Heheh.. I'm nosy and figured I'd get my curiosity out of the way before someone else asks
Sounds like fun, picking out flowers etc.. Hubby and I never had a "real" wedding, we did the justice-of-the-peace thing mostly because I just didn't feel like the hassle of it all, plus at 340 lbs I didnt even want a picture taken of myself, leave alone a whole wedding LOL
We've been married (only) 4 yrs now and we both talked about it a few months ago that we'll do the whole "renewal of vows" at our 10th anniversary with the whole nine yards, once he's out of the Navy and we're back home, settled with all the family around and all.
Well, I hope you're back in your groove now, I know being busy totally stresses me out sometimes, but I do enjoy the being busy too.. it makes me forget about eating - only keeps me from exercising like I really SHOULD be !! grr.
So here's wishing you and your hubby and all of your family a GREAT year , may 2006 be the best ever and please, keep us up-to-date on whats going on @ your end of the world.

Well needless to say, I am very tired after such a hectic Christmas and all the other wedding stuff. Don, my husband's, daughter got married. She had a ceremony in Boston, I flew up there a month after surgery this summer! But she wanted a ceremony so that all the Chinese relatives could come, they did the same thing in Germany too (Where her husband is from). I would have gladly come to the US for the break, the timing this year was really good, but she chose Christmas instead of Chinese New Year, therefore tying up two of my holidays with my husband's family! I really did a lot of work, his daughter or her husband are not particularly grateful for anything I have done and this was the last thing I will do for her, including Christmas gifts etc. Never said a word other than a very weak little thank you! Never said that they appreciated anything that we or I did for them. Let us say that they are so socially ignorant that it would take a 100 years for them to learn enough to be acceptable in polite society! But I did it for my husband mostly and things were gorgeous. Don and I got married almost 9 years ago in MS. I had a nice little homemade wedding which was perfect at a very old church in Summit Ms. It was beautiful and I was happy with it.
I did have fun picking out the flowers, they and all the stuff were cheap in Shanghai by American Standards! All the flowers and tablepieces were only $200 US dollars! Her bouquet would have been that much in MS!
I am glad that it is over and done with. I NEVER plan to invite them to visit us in US or here again either, and will make excuses if they try to invite themselves in the future. Perhaps they will get the message, although I think that they are so thickskinned that they don't want to understand! LOL that is the way of some folks.
Maybe when you get out of the Navy and come home, I will be back by then and will help you if you want to have a real wedding! I helped my cousin a lot when she used to cater and we would do flowers and all. It was great fun and we enjoyed doing it, although it is such hard work!!!
Maybe just a honeymoon in Hawaii with a tiny bikini would be better???? LOL!!!!
Love,
Cheryl
