Can anyone tell me how much it costs for WLS? I really am strongly considering WLS. My frame of mind has almost hit rock bottom. Not necessarily certain if I want to have it @ CMMC--which I'm not sure what's the cost there?

Ree Ree, I think it is different with each Doctor. You probably need to call around to the doctors offices and find out. Someone on here that private paid may be able to tell you what they paid but it may not be the same price for every patient, I am sure that it depends on how invasive the surgery is, whether they are able to do it Lap or Open, etc. Good Luck! Janice, I would like to know as much as possible about the process. Please email me ASAP. I had been given an estimate of $37,000 @ CMMC. Where does Dr. Whitehead practice? The cost is not the final decision, but I want a surgeon with a good track record---- a little bit of knowlege is dangerous..... I'm a nurse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey! WElcome to the board!!! Dr. Whitehead is in Hattiesburg.....And if you email Adam Dungey (he's a member here and Dr. Cleveland's nurse at CMMC) he can help you out with the costs.....Here's the link to him (it has an "email me" place to click): http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/members/profile.php?N=D1041874505 UMC in Jackson also has a "grant" program for patients and there is always Vocational Rehab, who is currently claiming not to pay for this, but may begin again in January.... Keep us posted and good luck! Smoochies Arlies

Hey Ree Ree. I used Dr. Whitehead in Hattiesburg. My insurance paid for my surgery. Vocational Rehab paid my deductibles and whatever my insurance wouldnt pay at the hospital. You may want to check with Vocational Rehab and see if they will help you out with the hospital costs and then you could just pay the surgeon fees. It might save you alot of money. I wouldnt trade Dr. Whitehead for anything in the world. He only does it open though- he prefers it like that. I still wouldnt trade him.
