Thing that I found out after surgery was that: When you have to pooh, you just may get really sick to your stomach. Just because you can "eat it" today, doesn't mean that you will tomorrow. My nose worked over time. All scents were strong & nasty !!! Just cause you like something before surgery, doesn't mean you will after. If you don't drink enough, YOU CAN develope KIDNEY STONES !!! Things you may think afterwards: What the heck have I done. Why did those idiots tell me I'd be SO happy after surgery. The world is ending, so go ahead & kill me now. You'll never ever be able to eat anything you like again. They say it will get better every day. When's the next day comin? Never? Crystal your gonna get full so quick. You really won't believe it till it is actually happening to you. It is something that you just have to go through to believe it. I can eat a little something- just say for example 2-3 medium size Steamed Shrimp & feel like I just got up from a dinner table at Thanksgiving last year. That is all it would take to fill me up. And even then I feel like I could use an Alka Seltzer !!! I hope & pray that you don't have any problems what-so-ever !!! Just drink drink drink !!! Tammy

Do whatever you Doctor tells you. Try not to experiment with things that He/She has not recommended. Keep positive people around you. Take it easy. Drink! Drink! Drink! We love you! You will do great. Best Wishes, Sonya Sumrall

Hi Crystal, I am sooo excited for you. No one knows how you are feeling right now. Everyone feel different things at different times. I agree with Sonya keep positive people around you, good support team, and plenty of liquids. Like sugar-free jello, sugar-free popsicle, your name sake crystal lite, and water. Don't worry you are not going to want much in the beginning. Take Care!!!!

Hey girl i'll give you a list of the things that i ate after surgery and just DONOT eat them and you will be fine !!haha Im only kiddin!! I ate things like jello, clear soups, s/f koolaid, crystal light and tons of s/f popcicles( dont get the walmart brand thay are gross )! Just dont buy lots of any one thing , you might hate it after surgery, so i hear! I still like anything that i liked before , my taste buds havent changed at all. I also dont dump on sugar, i do however get sick on greasy fried foods and anythig at the chinese resturant ! It's differant for everyone girl, trial and error! Just do what the dr orders and you should be fine. You will feel very full at first , you think your gonna burst with just a few sips of water. Dont forget to take your chapstick and some kinda comfey easy on shoes to walk the halls in, Oh and a robe if you dont want your behind shinning to the world( but then again you might like that , haha) ! And like my Dr told me if something is wrong you and everyone else around you will KNOW it!! I wish you all the pain and misery that i had after surgery!haha If you remember I didnt have any at all never even knew i had surgery, it was that smooth for me. I only hit my morphine pump once or maybe twice , but that was just for fun !haha Love ya girl, you got my number if ya need me to calm you down, DAWN

Oh my, great news, yes it is scarry and exciting....Great advice above...I kept several different types of juices (especially cranberry), I had to have one ounce on the hour every hour of some sort of fluid, besides sipping on water constantly. Broth type soups (hated just plain old chicken broth out of the can). Had someone bring me "hot and sour" soup from Chinese place, and it was DEVINE, I got an ounce of that until it was gone.... The only other thing I would add is, walk walk walk walk as soon as they tell you you can, just walk circles around the nursing stations. You will hate the first time they make you sit up and do it, but just clutch a pillow against the sorest part and go for it....You will be amazed how much faster you get to feeling better. Just getting that blood pumping to all the right parts and such REALLY helps the healing process. We wll be thinking about you and praying for ya on Tuesday!

Do you have my bariatric guidelines that Keesler gave me? They are they best advice I've seen....Yep, you really get full that quick!!!! And if you get overfull, you will feel HORRIBLE!!! So measure and eat no more than what they tell you or, trust me, you WILL live to regret it! Take it all slow and easy.....Remember that the fluid intake and protein intake are GOALS and you prolly won't reach either in the first 4 months or so.....And I pray to God that all will be well with you! Smoochies Arlies
