They caught the other guy!!!! Here's the story that ran in Saturday's Meridian Star: Home invasion developments Saturday, December 3, 2005 12:56 AM CST Two developments occurred almost simultaneously Friday in the case of a home invasion and armed robbery that occurred July 31 in Meridian. In that incident, two suspects allegedly pulled guns on two young men (JON WAS ONE OF THESE TWO YOUNG MEN) outside a house in the 2000 block of 23rd Avenue, robbed them and then forced their way inside the house. Once inside, the suspects allegedly robbed seven other young occupants of cell phones and money. Just after midnight, the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department arrested 19-year-old Alphonso McDonald and charged him with nine counts of armed robbery, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and probation violation. Chief Deputy Ward Calhoun said the arrest came after investigators received a CrimeStoppers tip: "We sent deputies to investigate, and he was located hiding in the closet of a house." McDonald was being held Friday night at the Lauderdale County jail on $91,000 bond. Meanwhile, a co-defendant in the case, 19-year-old Doracio Shanquill Clayton, was arraigned on nine counts of armed robbery Friday morning in Lauderdale County Circuit Court. Clayton was arrested shortly after the incident on 23rd Avenue and indicted earlier this month by a Lauderdale County grand jury. Like McDonald, Clayton was being held Friday night at the Lauderdale County jail; his bond is set at $45,000. - Suzanne Monk, managing editor, and Stewart Smith, staff writer
