Hey Tams, Just read the article and know first hand that it is true. Back in the late 70's early 80's(yes I'm that old)I had a patient that this happened to. She weighed over 350 and had surgery in a small outlying hospital. The heparin they gave her just sat in the fatty tissue and she developed a clot. Of course the heparin is given with a very short needle. We had to give it with a 2 1/2 inch meedle to get it down to the muscle layer. She made a full recovery, praise GOD. Tomanip

Hey Vel, I'd never thought about the meds not "getting to where they needed to be". I guess I just assumed that all shots worked every time on everyone. Your not that old...... Trust me !!! Your only as old as you feel. I'm glad that your patient was OK. God was with her !!! I'm so glad to hear from you. Seems like I hardly ever get on here any more. I stay so busy running here & there. Doing things at church & SOME shopping you know Yesterday I went & picked up a 16' trailer slam full of Monkey grass & 6 Flowering Quince bushes & each one is between 3'-4' tall. Guess what I'm gonna be doing for the next few days !!! Looking for some sucker to do the work !!! No... not really. It won't take long to get them out. Oh well....
