Hello everyone!! I am fairly new to the site and have only posted a couple of times. I just found this Mississippi group forum so it's good to hear stories that are so close to home! Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone has used Dr. Michael King out of Oxford. I just recently faxed my records in to his nurse, Becky. She seems great. Now I am just wondering what will happen now. I am terribly impatient (and I admit that!) so I am so anxious about what will happen from here. I would love someone to just walk me through the next steps! I went to a lap-band forum that Dr. King and Dr. Byars did--they both seem like great doctors. I would love to hear what you think of them. Thanks for any help! I sure hope that everyone has a VERY Happy Thanksgiving!! Madonna

Hey Madonna--love the name. I didn't use King but there will be some on here that did. I have heard great things about him. Since it is THanksgiving some of our people are out. I'm sure they will post soon though. Welcome to the boards and keep us posted on your progress. Happy Thanksgiving to you! Jane surgery 4/05 338/224/goal?

Thanks for the welcome, Jane. It seems like this is really a good support group. I like the way everyone seems to encourage each other! I will keep my "journey" posted. I am just so excited to be on my way! Hopefully, insurance won't drag their feet. As for the name--believe it or not--my daddy named me after a Beatles song!! Thanks again, Madonna

Hey Madonna... What a great name. She was my hero back in the good ole days in the 80s... I am terribly impatient too but it is a long drawn out ordeal most of the time. I went thru 2 denials before they finally approved me. Talk about stress.. Good luck to you and sit back and try to relax. The wait is the worst.

Thanks for your well wishes! I may need them again if this doesn't move along like I think it should!! It's good to see that a denial doesn't necessarily mean the end of the road, too!! My poor husband and daughters are already tired of hearing me go on and on about this!! They are great support though and I want to do this for them as much as for myself! As for the 80's being the good ole days---I couldn't agree more!! Some people actually ask if I was named after the singer Madonna! How funny--I was like 13 when her first album came out!! Thanks again, Madonna

Hey, Madonna. I am from Houston and will be using Dr. Byars. Becky is great. She is a great support and a fountain of info. Dr. Byars is very personable and has a wonderful reputation. Most people on this board have by pass, but I am having lap band after the first of the year. My insurance will not pay, but my husband added me to his and they will pay 90%. This is a supportive board, but for me with needing input from those who have had lap band I visit the lap band forum in addition to this board. To get there go to the top of screen and click forum. Then chose lap band. It is a good source of "what to expect." Anyway, welcome!!! Babette
