With all the holiday baking and cooking coming up, please remember that FAT-FREE DOES NOT MEAN SUGAR-FREE. In fact, fat-free ususally has a bit more sugar in it to make it taste better!!! Beware because fat-free chocolate milk DOES have suagr, fat-free sweentened condensed milk DOES have sugar, fat-free anything DOES have sugar......Guess who picked up fat-free pudding at Walmart yesterday thinking sugar-free and had to take it back, BUT I caught it while at the checkout...... You are so right. I learned it a while back but you would be surprised at the ones who don't know it. You might have saved someone from getting really really sick. Thanks for keeping all of us in the know. Becky

Hiya Arlies Actually its not just the sugar free/ fat free thing that gets me. Its the fact that most of those items praised as low fat or low sugar aren't THAT much different from the regular, and honestly, if you look at the amounts of the items we actually consume, the difference between them is so minimal sometimes that I don't find it worth spending double on an item that I might eat half of before it spoils ( no one else will eat it, e.g. low carb bread, pasta etc ). I don't see myself eating that much different than the rest of the family, other than the 6 yr old eats double what I eat LOL I know for a lotta folks this sugar free fat free stuff is sooooooo important, but if the diff between my daily intake will be 50 measly calories between something that tastes kinda gross over something I like the taste of??? I will admit, I 'm probably a cheap skate but the diff between 1100 and 1150 or 1200 calories doesnt make THAT big of a difference to me. So for you it was the fat free pudding? For me it was the Cool Whip LOL ~ANDIE~

I AGREE ANDIE. I DON'T HAVE A PROBLEM WITH SUGAR DUMPING --I EAT VERY LITTLE. I HAD RATHER HAVE A SMALLER PORTION AND CHEAPER PRICE. I DON'T FEEL DEPRIVED OF "NORMAL EATING" I DO BUY SOME SUGAR FREE ITEMS THAT I LIKE. I MADE A MISTAKE OF BUYING "SUGAR FREE HONEY" W/O LOOKING AT THE CALORIES. wOW I WAS SURPRISED. IT WAS NOT WORTH IT. sAME FOR SUGAR FREE CHOCOLATE SYRUP. GLENDA

Yup! Check the low-sugar peanut butter. It has a whopping 1 gram of sugar less than regular pb!!! And it costs more! Smoochies Arlies

There truly isnt much difference in the peanut butters. I just eat the regular peanut butter. I did get some low carb peanut butter. It is okay but not as good as the regular (imagine that)... Some things just arent worth spending the extra $$ on. Gotta kinda read labels now and I do that and its interesting what you can find.

Great thoughts from everyone I just have one thing to add... dont forget about sugar alcohol that will get you too. I have not dumped once yet I have become a lable reading freak! I dont eat anything with more that 10 grms of sugar or 6 grams of sugar alcohol in it. Just be aware of that too. Hope you all have a great thanksgiving!!!!!
