Depression...
Hi Kimberly - relax, you're normal! I think that many people definately go through an adjustment period, especially around the three month mark and often again around six months. It could be a lot of different things that go with this surgery, from changes in hormone levels, changes in energy, electrolites out of whack, or just plan getting used to a new and different lifestyle. Depression can have so many different faces, from the down and weepy to the raging can't-stand-to-be-around-myself syndrome. I often had to remind myself that when I woke up from surgery, I was the owner of a great gift - a new life! And starting from day one, there were parts of that new life that were not fun - I had to learn many things over again, to think about things differently, to interact with people differently, obviously to eat differently. There is a big adjustment in every aspect of your life that goes with this surgery. But never forget that when you woke up from that surgery, you too were the owner of a new gift - A new life. The catch is that you have to actively build that new life as you go. Keep you focus on where tou want to go, what direction you want to go in and become that person that you were thinking about when you decided to have this surgery. Lastly, always remember that you have about a million people on this webpage that believe in you!!! psychodoc.
