Reconnecting with the group
Hey Everyone!
I'm trying to get back into a routine and I'm glad to be able to look back at the previous posts and see what has been happening. I've been overwhelmed lately and lost focus on taking care of myself whi*****ludes chatting with fellow RNYers on this board. I'm committing to getting back to "normal" and following the rules of the tool. Monthly support groups are tough for me to attend, my schedule is full in the evenings. I may or may not post often but I'll be listening!
Take care and it's good to be back,
Elesha
Hello, glad you are going to get back to posting with us. I have been thinking about you and wondering where you have been. We have missed you around here. I know it really helps me to stay in a setting of support so that I don't forget where I came from because I certainly don't want to go back. Hope to see you post with us often.
I know you are farther out than the rest of us, and I am sure you have a great deal of valuable insight to offer to help us on our journeys. So, how are you doing maintaining your loss at 3 + years out? Do find it gets easier to control those bad habits or is it a constant struggle still? What do you find helps you the most to stay on track with the rules of losing and maintaining? I ask all these questions because I am about to hit that two year mark and for a few months I struggled really bad. I got back to posting on here and reading my information and have slowly gotten back on track with things and am doing much better. But I find it a struggle sometimes to do what I know I need to do especially when things are hectic with work and trying to get the kids everywhere they are supposed to be for this activity and that. I had gained 2 or 3 pounds during those months I struggled, and couldn't seem to get rid of them. I am back to my vigorous exercise routine and getting the water and protein in and they fell off plus a couple. So I am glad to know my tool still works when my behavior allows it to LOL.
I hope you are doing well and will come and chat with us often. Again, I am glad to hear from you.
Melissa
Hey Melissa,
It's good to hear from you too. I wish I had simple answers but I'm still feeling my way through the process. I'm doing well but I have old habits that keep popping up in times of stress. I've been eating from anxiety lately with all that has been topsy-turvy with the storm mess. I want comfort foods something terrible and I've given in to those cravings too often. I need to break the cycle with Atkins for a couple of weeks and I won't crave carbs like I have been doing.
I wish I had the commitment to exercise like you do! I've posted a big sign on my fridge that says:
H...Hydrate
E...Exercise
L...Lord time (bible study, prayer time)
P...Protein
Take care,
Elesha
Times of stress are hard for me too. I think that is why I fell off the wagon for a little bit after Katrina because of the anxiety and stress with our store getting so much damage. Old habits die really hard, but we are tough and did the first thing and best thing to help ourselves. Now we are committed and will succeed. I think I will borrow your HELP sign for my refrigerator. Good things to live by and do daily.
Take care,
Melissa
P.S. Let's get together soon for lunch or something.
