Heart attack

I haven't been online for awhile. The day after I went and spoke at Dr Byars seminar in Southaven on the 12th, I had a heart attack. I literally died. They did CPR and shocked me Luckily I was at work (healthcare facility) AND my doctor was there. He is our Medical Director there. I don't remember much about the whole thing at all. I guess that is good. Anyway they revived me (obviously,,,lol). I spent 4 days in intensive care. Last Friday they inserted a defibrilator. I had an episode of severe ventricular tachycardia. I am doing well now. Yes I asked "is this because of the gastric bypass??" Doc said it was in no way related. My labs were all good, magnesium and potassium just a tiny bit low. I have had "heart flutters" for awhile but not this bad. Am very tired. I feel as if one of my ribs are broken. Have a vein in my left arm that is rock hard and red from my wrist up to my elbow. HURTS!!! Lotsssssssss of bruises. Get dizzy easy. I was hoping that I could , once again, return to work soon. But if I don't feel like it I will stay home. I think I maybe pushed myself alittle too hard after the surgery. The moral to this story for all of you new post ops and upcoming surgery patients: DON'T RUSH THINGS. TAKE YOUR TIME. RECOUPERATE AFTER YOUR SURGERY. MOST OF ALL: ENJOY LIFE,,, IT IS WONDERFUL!! Would I have the surgery again?? YES!! I have lost around 60 pounds. LIke i said, this heart attack wasn't caused by the surgery. You all take care. Love to all!!! LIFE IS WONDERFUL!!! JUdy

Judy sorry to hear of this news but very glad everything turned out very well. Another moral to this lesson is listen to your body, because it will tell you when something is wrong. Just like with this surgery we had. Alot of people asked me why do you want to do that? I told them how can I not do it. My life is in jeapody. Some of us may not have or had major co-mobilities but when your back hurt it hurts, when your knees and feet hurt it hurts. People just don't understand. Then they say my feet, back and knees hurt also but I manage. Indicating what, yes they need the surgery also but just too scared to get it. I look at it like this, God give us the wisdom to use, we have to use it to our advantage. Take care lady and do what the doctor says. 393/294/170- Surgery date was 4/21/05

Judy, After this is over you'd better give your Guardian a vacation!! A well deserved one. Do you realize(I know you do) how blessed you are!!!!!! It was the optimum, time, place, and people present. You know if you had not had the surgery the heart attack may have happened earlier. The fact you were down 60 lbs and on a healthier diet was in your favor. Girl, you are a walking miracle!!!!! Get well soon. Tomanip

OMG - I can not believe this happened to you! You are such a special person, and you have helped me so much, I would be so heartbroken if anything bad had happened to you. What would I do without all your sweet emails? You better be sure to take care of yourself.... Hugs and kisses, Marci
