Do anyone know what is going on in Jackson. I attend the New Weight Management Program, which was held at the Medical Mall in Jackson, that is required now to have the surgery, but have not heard anything yet regarding an appointment. I have been waiting for close the 2 years to have the surgery. First started with Dr. Cleveland, then Dr. Mathis, Dr. Blake, and now with Dr. Salamah. I am going through a state assisted program so I can only go to the doctors who accepts it. It is getting down to the bare string now since they is going to cut the program out soon. Any suggestion anyone? If anyone can give me any information I would appreciate it very very much!! :o(

Thanks for the information Stephanie. I will give them a call first thing Monday morning. Heck, I might just leave the message now to have her contact me in the morning. I really appreciate the help. It has been such a long journey to give up now.

Did they tell you when they were going to cut the program? What was their reasoning? Bless your heart, you have gone through so much for this to happen now. I am supposed to be using VR but I could not get an appointment with a Bariatric surgeon until Feb. 6th. I hope everything works out for you! Marci

Hi Marci, Thanks for the information. I see that you are using the same program as I am. What did they tell you when you called? Who did you talk to? Any suggestions? Did you have to attend the Weight Management Class also?

And Marci, when my case worker called me, she stated that the state was interested to know the status of my surgery. She told that they still will pay for my surgery, just that they was not taking any new cases. She stated the hospital that usually took on our cases has not resigned their contract. So they are searching for the hospital that would accept VR.

I will call my case worker on Monday to see what is going on... VR can not do anything until I have my consultation with Dr. Carroll and the earliest appointment I could get was in February. If VR is not accepting any new patients, then that would unfortantely most likely affect me. I will email you after I talk to my VR case worker and find out what is happening. Thanks for letting me know.... Marci

No problem, I am happy to share the information. But I did not know that Dr. Carroll accepted VR. I thought I tried everyone in Mississippi, but came up empty until Dr. Salamah in Jackson. That is who I am trying to go through. Did you explain to him that it is through VR that you are getting the surgery done? Just curious and do not want you to be waiting to see him and then find out that he do not accept VR.

You also need to call Susan at Dr. S's office and tell her that funding may be cut soon and they'd better hop to it!! It is so very slow going thru UMC. It is a horriblely LONG wait. Hang in there, tho, your time WILL come! Smoochies Arlies
