Ummm Lets see.....Remember that these are my experiences 15 years ago!
Supreme Court Justice and 3 bodyguards machine gunned down in their car 2 blocks from where I was standing catching the bus!
Earthquake measured 5.6 on the Richter scale
Attempted mugging for a piece of costume jewelry
Guard outside of the home I was staying in, armed with machine gun.
Gunfire all night long
Kids smoking crack cocaine in the streets out of soda cans
Attempted robbery by an addict, (I escaped in a taxi)
Two drug guys dripping with gold in a jeep tried to pick me up, (I was waiting for the bus)
More than a dozen persons were kidnapped for ransom just after I left.
But, I loved the people and the food. The city and surrounding areas are beautiful, I got the chance to go to many far off places from the city, all were spectacular!!!! Many places are dangerous, but still beautiful... I almost went to Bali, the booking at the agent was full, and that night they bombed three places, sigh, guess it is an out destination for me in the near future!!!!!!
Guess the whole world has problems. Less than one mile from me a lady was killed at the Soccer field this week. There are numerous robberies and thefts monthly here, too. However, while in Bogota I neither saw, read or heard about any major crimes that Cheryl experienced.
If you who looking into RNY please do not let Cheryl's comments scare you. Bogota was alot safer than New Orleans.
Sorry Cheryl for be so strong with my convictions. And I am sorry you had soooo many bad experiences.
