I still have my gallbladder and have no problems with it, but I've heard it feels much like a heat-attack and once it's out, you feel better than you have ever felt before. I DO, tho, have Dr. Jenkins' email at Keesler. He's my main man. Lemme know if you want to email him about it and surgery at Keesler, if that's possible....I hear a couple of clinics are seeing patients and Dr. J hopes to be seeing patients really soon - namely ME!!!! And he is the commander of the surgical flight.... Smoochies Arlies

Hey Arlies ~ How are you , hon????? I wish I'd have known that you have an email for someone at Keesler. It would have been much less of travel for me, but it's ok, I've already talked to my relatives back in Louisiana, who will be tending to my doggie while I'm "out of service" if I have to have surgery. So I'm going there Sunday afternoon, spend the night and then do the two hour drive to New Orleans rather than having to do a six hour drive all at once. I hear the I-10 bridge is out so there's really no way into New Orleans from the north? I dunno, ya can't get too much info on open roads, and it's not advisable anyways to try to travel there with them checking on those roads who is travelling to get in to areas they shouldn't be in. I'll take hwy 90 to go to the Westbank, it shouldn't be a problem that way since I'm not going to be trying to go through a previously flooded area . Its good to know though that you have "connections" !! hehe I might need them. Who knows. ~Andie~

hi i had all the same stuff too and i just had mine taken out a few months ago at 10 months post op it wasnt much fun but it was a good experience too. if u cant get to ur surgeon in new orleans i highly recommend dr william whitehead at hattiesburg clinic. im sure he would be happy to do it considering ur cir****tances. he did my rny and my gallbladder and he let me go home the same day which the nurse couldnt believe bc hes kinda old school and doesnt do that most of the time.they will do an ultrasound on ur abdomen to find it but if they dont find anything make them do the other test ...i cant rmeember the name but its some kind of scan that finds small stones.its not a bad surgery at all and after this surgery u can eat....lol!!!let me know if i can help! crystal 229/144/125

Thank You Crystal~~~ I so appreciate everyone's concern. I will keep in mind to have them do the other test too, because I've had an ultrasound prior to surgery and they said it looked good, but I'm wondering, with me having those issue 16 yrs ago, maybe there was more to it at that time already? I'm just one of those people who deal with pain and don't worry about it till it gets to where I can't stand it. I might have been dealing with stomach aches and it really was the gallbladder throughout the years? Hmmm. I also appreciate your info on the surgeon. I'm going to see mine Monday morning, and the office coordinator emailed me to let me know that he would be able to do the surgery ( if that's what I need ) the same week. So I'll be ok in that respect too. I just didn't know what this whole thing was and I'm ready to now get it over with. I'm scared of eating now LOL ( been on a voluntary liquid diet since yesterday. I don't trust it HAHA) Take care and thanks for the response ! ~Andie~

Sounds like gallbladder. Could be a kink or blackage in your intestine or a hernia. I had gallbladder surgery as a teenager. I had similar pain with my hernias after WLS. You are smart to see you WLS surgeon since he has knowledge of what was done during WLS. I can also tell you that surgeons will refuse to see you if they find out you have had WLS. They see us as a legal risk. I had been referred to a surgeon in Hattiesburg by another doctor in Hattiiesburg Clinic. He refused to see me even for a consult about my hernias. Take time to take care of yourself. glenda

You can go to the dental clinic at Keesler and they will refer you off base if there is no one to see you there. The family Practice is working out of the dental clinic. That is what I was told. Best of luck. Rhonda

Hey Andie, I had the same stuff and surgery finally. Since gallbladder is sneaky you dont know when it will attack you..... Usually it attacks after you eat something that is either highly seasoned and oily like fried foods or something creamy and fatty like spaghetti or ice cream. I didnt know either and had that kind of pain for 3 days. The doctor told me when I got in on Monday, happened Friday night, I should have gone to the emergency room and I was not being a whimp asking for pain help!!!!! So when the little devil strikes again just go right to the ER and they will push down under your ribs and you will hurt like blazes..... But.... The good part is that it is an easy surgery, overnight in hospital and you should never have that problem again!!!!!! Hope that this helps! Cheryl
