Has anyone had their vena cava filter removed? I am scheduled to have mine out next week and am a bit nervous about it. Can you tell me what to expect? I know it comes out through the neck, but how painful is it? Thanks.

Jenny, why are you having it removed? It can stay in there the rest of your life for added protection. I am keeping mine forever. Are you having any problems with it? Sue 273/261/201/150

Hi Sue, I am having it removed because Dr. King thinks it would be a good idea. The veins in that leg are zig-zagged and puckered. When I had it put in, I was so afraid that one day I would have to have it removed. The thought of it coming out from my neck makes me sick to my stomach. I'm sure it no big deal, I just wanted to hear from someone who had gone through it. Jenny

Honey, I didn't have a vena cava filter so I am no help at all. But I do suggest that you post this question on the main board where there is ALOT more experience with these filters. Will you have to be hospitalized? Can we help in any way? Let us know what you find out and how things go. Smoochies Arleis
