Revelation about satiation
Hey, everyone. I have a question, comment, or better yet a revelation. My husband tells me that he cannot figure out how I can be gaining weight. He says I don't eat enough and what I eat is too healthy. For example, I love cottage cheese with chocolate soy protein mixed with skim milk to make "pudding". I have been thinking about this more since we just have gotten married and he is around me more. I have realized that through journaling that even though I may get hungry... I NEVER get satisfied! I will take a few bites and just talk through the meal or eat just because. I spend my day looking, searching, nibbling, trying to find what I am wanting. Usually it is milk (skim). I eat whole grain bread when I eat bread. We eat fruit and steamed veggies. I rarely eat red meat, but I will cook it for him. He fusses that the only thing sweet to eat is sugar free jello or pudding. He is learning that if it is there I will eat it.
Did ya'll have this problem of not feeling that "stop" feeling when ya'll were not on the losing side? Is this common? I have seen people eat a big meal and push back from the table and rub their bellies announcing that was enough or too much or that they're full. I have never felt that way.
My husband is truly supportive. He is just baffled.
Any input is great.

Yep!!! I was constantly "starving to death". I never felt full - ever!!! I also did not eat as much as I wanted to because I would have NEVER stopped and we couldn't afford it. After yo-yoing on diets sometimes one's metabolism gets broken. Not only do you never feel full, EVERYTHING you eat turns to fat. And if you are like I was, I was NEVER active and that doesn't help either. One of the more magical things about this surgery is that it resets your metabolism. You WILL feel full and you WILL lose weight. What happens after years and years of struggling with your weight, your body goes into a survival mode and hangs on to every calorie it can get because it is waiting for another starvation period to come. Before (and much more now!) my husband and children out-ate me about 10 to 1, but did not put on wieght the way I did.
Don't feel like the Long Ranger....

It sounds all too familiar. I could get full though, but that didn't stop me. Most of the time I wasn't "satisfied". I'd eat, but it wasn't what I was wanting, so I'd go to the cabinet, try something salty, still not happy, back to cabinet, get something sweet, still not satisfied. It's like my taste was never satisfied.
I was also a binge eater.
We all have our evils with food. Sounds like yours is no different.
Hang in there! Realization is a big key to the WLS journey.
You're a step ahead of the game!

I find that eating different temperatures of food helps me to feel full and satisfied.
Don't deprive your self of too many of the foods you really like that can lead me to binging when I give in to the craving.
I never bought a jar of penut butter before WLS now I crave it. So I limit to reduced fat , measure it and leave off the crackers so I can get the true flavor of the PB.
There are days when I search for a taste. What helps me is to ALWAYS HAVE SOMETHING HEALTHY , OR CALORIE FREE ON HAND.
Buy some of the "pie flavors" of SF, lowfat yogurt for you an d hubby.
I love the key lime and pina colada. (krogers brand.)_

Thank the Lord I' m not CRAZY. The point of yo-yo dieting and metabolism being broke hit home. Thanks guys! I read ya'lls posting and get more support than I do with my family. They simply haven't been there and done that. Alot of my family is skinny. Or simply like the extra pounds they have or rather they care to do anything about it.
