I dont realy know where the Drs are i have heard rumers that they have been tranfered to other places i sure hope thats not true i will be heart broken if i dont get to see my Dr Lo again!! I'm just going to put off my Dr visits until there is something permant arranged for us keesler patients, well unless i get sick. I just worry about what to do with my kids , if they get sick i have one child that has asthma and most of his meds got ruined , thank goodness step daddy is a pharmacist and will take care of that for me! Its amazing how many people that this storm has affected, you are in hong-kong !! DAWN

Ha ! Yeah Tricare ain't much help. They gave me a list of doctors in New Iberia when I evacuated so I could go get me some medicine because in the confusion of leaving at 4 am I had left my meds at home- yes.. I think that this surgery causes a certain amount of memory loss So, anyways, 9 out of the 10 doctors on the tricare list were not even taking tricare prime, and upon asking why they were being recommended by the tricare folks and then when I call them, they don't accept it, one very rude appointment clerk told me straight up " you can come in and see the doctor but you have to pay out of pocket, we don't accept tricare any longer, because we're still waiting on claims we filed a year ago, to be paid". Hmmmmm. To make a long story short, I finally found a very compassionate sweet doctor who took care of me and offered any kind of help I needed, just come in. He wasn't a bariatric surgeon, we're talking PCP here, but hey... I'm far enough "out" to be ok with that. I basically just asked for the HCTZ and the Lexapro, then went to Wal Mart just to have to wait TWO (!!) hours for Tricare to approve payment of the meds and I picked up some centrum vitamins and B12 subling's. It's a nitemare with our medical coverage, Girl. I'd recommend to anyone in our area, if you have urgent need to see a surgeon, look toward Mobile, AL. That's where it looks like it didn't hit quite as bad and you may find a qualified doc to help. Around here, some PCPs are open again but if they take tricare, and how long before you get an appointment (OR bloodwork! for that matter ) is questionable. Can't really blame the Tricare folks though.. it's all a big mess . Nobody knows anything. Get your phonebook out and start calling around. Or go to the tricare site and start pulling doctors in the area , even as far as Hattiesburg, Mobile, and see if they'd see ya. And have fun driving

You know I don't think of ya'll the stuff ya'll are facing until something new is brought to my attention. What are you gonna do? I think I might try calling a dr in H'burg. Thats not too too far to have to go. I'm sure they would probably try to work you in considering the cir****tances. Oh I meant to put this in my other post. I just got dsl and I love it. I don't see how I dealt with dial up for so long. Becky

Well, I got an email from my main man!!! Dr. Jenkins. Keesler is in a mess and it will be a while. The powers that be in Washington are trying to use this to scale the hospital back. Smoochies ARlies PS here's the email I got.... David M. Jenkins's Message: Hi Mrs. King. How is the Queen doing these days? We're all wondering what the AF is going to do with us here. They claim they are rebuilding/fixing the Medical Center to the way it was pre-Katrina. I'll believe it when I see it though. There are many in Washington that want Keesler to just have a small hospital or clinic. Take care, Dr. J

Hi Dawn I 'am glad you are back . I just got back on Thursday. I have been having to deal with the insurance company on our home owner policy. Trying to get the rest of the repairs done . I'am just happy to beable to fix our house. I have been lucky I guess Tricare give me numbers for all the doctors for my children and I . We have already set up appointments for us. One for the doctors is for my son asthma. If you still need doctors number call me at home .I still can,t do anything until Oct 19, so I'am always at home unless I have a doctor appointment. Oh I forgot my # is 228-396-9886 . God Bless Wanda Weimer
