Hi, I had to get a computor up and running at my parent house ,before I could get back to you guys. I need has much help as you can give me. I hate to ask, but I have no place else to turn. Thats the way things turned out. I'am trying to follow the paper I was given before I had my surgery on the 24th. I still have my staples ,don't know when I'am to get them out or how. I'am having problems drinking and eating as much as the paper say. When they air vac me out of Keelser and sent me to Texas they just sent me to my parent house , because once it was past 10 days couldn't kept me any longer . The power to our house isn't on , so I can't go back to my home. Does anyone know how long staples can stay in? Are how bad it is that I can't eat or drink what the papers say? Wanda

Wanda; I don't know about the staples but I am glad to here you are o.k. I would think that any local clinic could take them out. I do know the longer they are in the more they hurt to take out. Good luck. I have not had the surgery so I don't know about drinking water. Just glad you are o.k. Steph

Wanda, Bless your heart. I am not sure about the staples cause I had stitches all on the inside. I hate to advice on the eat and drinking cause I know from others before that my dr was alot different from yours. Hopefully Arlies, Dawn or Sara will be able t help you on that. I would try contact a dr their or go to the er to see about the staples and your follow up stuff. Good luck. I hate to hear about your house. My heart and prayers go out to each and everyone of you that were affected by this. Becky

Hey, Thank you . Sorry it has taking so long . I found a doctor to take the staples out . But they could only take out half ,because I 'am starting to get an infection. So I had to start new meds. I'am still at my parents home in Baton Rouge. The insurance company came to our house Thursday ,but my hubby say there is still no power. Has soon as power is up we can get our house damages worked on. My daughter lost her cat. She is having probleming coping. Has we all are. But I thank God everyday now that I'am here to see my children and family. Wanda Weimer

Wanda, I'll pass this on to some of our Nurses out here and get back to you. Try to find a local Dr. there or even call the ER and explain your Situation and they can more than likely 'hook you up' with a Dr. Check back and keep us posted. In the meanwhile, Sip tha****er as much as you can. Its really Icky to get dehydrated and have the dry heaves and such. Prayers out to you this evening! Take care- Best Wishes- Dx

I will be going to my nutrition class in 2 days and can call my dr. office and speak to someone anytime...any questions you need answered promptly give me a list and i will call them immediately. i do know that you need to drink drink drink sip little sips. you might try your water at room temp. a friend of mine had trouble drinking water that was too cool/cold immediately after her surgery and had to drink it tepid. hang in there and try to relax....(i know what you are going through i was 8 months pregnant during hurricane alicia in houston and was without electricity and had to stand in ice lines so i sympathize) hang in there and let me know hugs...cheryl

Staples should be out in 2 weeks. The eating and drinking question as you know should be drinking as much fluid as you can get in don't over do all at once just sip, sip, sip.... as much as possible.... Best wishes and GODS speed. Jim open RNY 10/27/03-215lbs

James is right! It's different for different parts of the body, but for the trunk, it's anywhere from 10 - 14 days. I am sure that if you get yourself to the Emergency Department, they can help you out. don't wait too long! I am so thankful that you are okay... God bless rebecca

Wanda, I saw that you are now in Texas, are in the Houston area? If so send me and email and I will get you my docs name and phone#. I am sure they can at least answer your questions and you could ask if they might be able to remove the staples for you seeing your situation. Hope this helps. My prayers are with you. Michelle

Wanda, So glad to see that you are safe. Is there a Bariatric surgeon in the area where you are? I'm sure if you called them, they would help you out. If push comes to shove, go to the ER and tell them what's going on and they may be able to locate a doctor who can advise and help you out. I hope this helps. Best wishes, Fran
