Know some one who needs a Place?
Hey Ya'll
Are those of you down on the South End
Of the State seeing some relief show up?
We're certainly loading it and sending it out of Oxford.
Ole Miss has sent out at least 3 big freight trucks each day
Packed to the gills with bottled water, non-perishables
And clothes.
We've also got a lot of "refugees" here in town.
The Churches have all "pooled" resources to open up homes
To those who need a place.
Oxford is jam packed with those "game weekend condos"
That the richer families keep here just so they won't have
To bother with hotels for home games.
Well, between the Churches and the University
30 of them now have families from down on the coast
And we've got a "clearing house" list of others for folks
Who are offering a "place to stay."
Some of them furnished yet empty condos/apartments
Others are in homes that have extra rooms.
If ya'll know of anyone there who might be interested
Have them contact Ole Miss Dean of Students -
(Thomas J. (Sparky) Reardon Ph.D
422 Union (662) 915-7248
or - Associate Dean of Students
Lori A Wolff Ph.D., J.D.
401 Union (662) 915-1387 )
Or one of the larger churches here.
The 1st Baptists
(800 Van Buren, Oxford, MS 38655, Downtown, 662-234-3515)
Have the largest kitchen facilities
So they are running the "Meals for Displaced" here,
And the University United Methodist Church-
(424 South 10th Street, Oxford, MS 38655, 662-234-5278)
http://www.gbgm-umc.org/ouumc/
is pairing up Local families with people
Needing a place and/or clothing.
Hope that each day gets better and better
For those of you hit by Katrina!
Best Wishes-
Dx
