gas for the cars
I hear you Fredrica - it is the same way in Richland area as well. My husband had to go to North Jackson and bless his heart he waiting in line for 1 1/2 hours only to have them run out of gas. He ran over to the Sam's in Ridgeland and waited in line there for another 45 minutes and was finally able to get gas for his truck. I don't have any gas for my car. We have had no electricity for 2 1/2 days now so I loaded my husband and boys up in the truck last night and we went to his Mom's in Texas. When we hit Monroe, LA the gas stations were so much better, you could drive right up to the pump - they also had ICE as well! I guess we will stay in Texas until Sunday, I brought 4 gas cans with me and will fill them up in Louisiana on the way home so I will be able to fill my car up when I get home.
Good Luck!

I work for La-Z-Boy South in Newton Ms and we went to get gas for the vans this morning and waited in line for 11/2 hours, and were only allowed to get 20 dollars worth, which is ok for at least everyone can get some that way. I figure it will be a lot better by mid-week next week. No matter how bad it is here we have to continue to pray for the peopl on the coast and in New Orleans. We don't really know how bad it is there and the pictures we have seen on tv are unimaginable at best.
Wishing you the best.

Man - you probably spent over $20 waiting in line to get that gas too. Everything is so crazy, when you have people fighting over gas, or killing each other over a bag of ice. We just need to keep calm and remember the familes that have lost loved ones and the familes that have lost all of their possessions and homes. Like you said, we just need to continue to pray for everyone on the Coast and New Orleans areas.

Hi Marci,
Thank you so much for helping others out with information in this time of great need. I am in California and only know what the news and papers share. We are all wondering what we can do to help. I do have a question though. Do you know anything about the Bethel Roberts Road area of Newton, MS? My aunt is 70 and we haven't heard anything from her. I also have relatives throughout LA and have no word. Thanks for any information you may have.
Our thoughts and prayers are sent your way from California.
Take care,
Robin
Hi Robin,
my mom lives in the Philadelphia, MS area and that is about 30 miles north of Newton, I can tell you there was only 1 death reported and that was from a tree falling on a car. To my understanding it was a lady in her 40's or 50's.
I hope you find your Aunt doing well. She may not be able to answer the phone because phone services are very messed up right now. Some people still do not have power. But I can tell you that was the only death in Newton county.
Take care
Crystal
Crystal, thank you so very much for the info. I am sure they did ok but it would be great to hear. It is hard sitting here in California wondering what we can do to help. My friend is leaving next week to volunteer with the Red Cross. Our schools and cities here are ready for anyone who needs to come.
Take care, I wish the best for you and your family.
Robin
