Road trip planned
Hello everybody from Mississippi. I hope all of your families are safe after this horrible storm. I'm planning on heading to the Mobile area the 9th and 10th of September and am going to take an alternate route. I was wondering if I-59 was open to poplarville and how the road was from poplarville to Chickasaw, Al. If anybody knows a better route I would be interested. I was also wondering what the rumors of the gas situation will be. Thank you guys for your time

We sat in line at a gas station for 3 hours yesterday to be told that we could only have 5 gallons. I threw myself a big ole fit and cussed him up one side and down the other. I wasted 5 gallons waiting in line. He ended up letting me get 10 gallons. My work got a truck to come in today and they are on site so I got another 5 gallons. This puts me on full! I feel very lucky and very fortunate.
I hope you are okay!!
Hey Dan,
59 from Picayunne, through Hattiesburg to Meridian is open
But south of Picayunne, I'm not sure. Where are you 'picking it up?'
By the 9th or 10th it should be fine.
As far as gas? Even as far north as Oxford-
We are out at most stations. I think it is due to supply rumors
Causing a 'run' on stations all across the country
Rather than a full out shortage. That should be ok by the 9th too
If I had to guess.
Glad to see you're somewhere with power on enough to post.
Take care.
Best Wishes-
Dx
Hey Cajun,
Glad to see you are safe. I had wondered how you did with Katrina. I am 2 miles from Chickasaw. The gas situation here isn't good. They expect it to be better the end of the week. At present, the wait is about 2 + hours. There is fighting at the pumps too. Let me know if I can be of any help.
