Update on the Coast

I just talked to my husband. There is still not much news on how bad that things are, but we know that they are BAD.. If you go to sunherald.com you can read some of the stuff that has happened. The water was from the beach all the way to the railroad tracks, more than likely flooding everything in between. The Edgewater Village was destroyed, that is across the street from the Mall. Our Olive Garden and Red Lobster is totally gone. I will not be able to go home for a while, they are not letting anyone back into the city, I don't know for how long. My husband told me to try and enroll my son in school here, and for me to try and find a job here temporarily. Uggghhhh... I want to go home!!!!! This is a total nightmare! I am in Valdosta, GA at my sister and parents houses. I don't know when I will be able to go home. Unfortunately I don't even know if I have a house left. My husband has been stuck on the base and is not sure how much damage we have. The base has a lot of extensive damage. Thank you for your concern. I will take all prayers that I can... Rhonda

Hey Rhonda I read the sunherald too and I'm still hopeful. Yes, lots of destruction. It's heartbreaking. I have already spoken to two people and one said its horrific, the damage is unbelievable. The other person's ok too and her family lost their mobile home. But they're happy they are alive. They will never ride out another storm on the Coast. Unfortunately there are so many who thought the same way, maybe this will teach the hardcore riders to NOT "ride out" he storms when told to evacuate. I know I am anxious to find out what happened to the house and if I still have a job. Right now, without any further info, I'm still HOPING. I think tomorrow we'll get more info as the flood waters should recede and we will get more reports once it gets light outside and they can assess the further extent of the damages. We all heard about the flooding in Gulfport and Biloxi along hwy 90 and I am just praying that our callcenter hasn't been destroyed. If I am now jobless, we're really in deep kimchi when it comes to paying bills. Unemployment won't cut it. It's on hwy 90 and even with the road.. if they're flooded on hwy 90 all along the coast,(seven foot of water?? OMG! ) it's going to be a total loss. Well, I hope everyone is hanging in there. Has anybody heard from Amy? Waveland didn't fare too well, I hope they had left !! How about Wanda? and Ed??? Please let us know if you're okay. I know. Hi everyone, We are all fine in Memphis, TN. We are guessing the support group meeting is cancelled? Has anyone heard? ha ha. We left Sunday morning and had no problems getting out of town. Very concerned with how things are, etc. I haven't heard anything about Wanda, have her cell phone number but obviously that isn't working right now. Ed, I don't have her cell number, but since you said you have it, PLEASE use your text messaging and try to contact her ( remember sending it to the 10- digit number or it wont go thru since you're out of town ) If you get something back, let us know??? Seems to me all text mssg is working fine, so you can contact your friends that way. I got thru to most everyone except two of the people I tried to find out about. I am truly concerned.
