Nobody Accepts TRICARE

The lady from humana called several doctors, and I called a bunch more, and it seems that no one is accepting tricare to perform the surgery! I have tricare prime. Now I have to go through the hassle to try and get approval to see someone out of network. Oh Boy, I thought this was going to be easy. Connie

I called Humana back and they said the dr still has to accept tricare, but it doesn't have to be a participating provider... Well, none of the docs I called even accept tricare. Does anyone know of any doc that accepts tricare? Thanks. Connie

Hey Connie, I am running into the same thing right now as I have Tricare Prime as well. I have a call into a doctor's office in Louisiana to see if they accept it. I know of a lady who has Tricare Prime and just had surgery there in March. I will let you know when I find out. Keep your fingers crossed for us. ~Danielle

Try Dr. Avara with South MS Surgeons in Ocean Springs. His number is 800-537-8809. I was seen there after the storm for a follow up visit and they do take tricare, when I called Tricare to get authorization they tried to tell me that his office does not take tricare, but they do and Tricare did finally send me the authorization. You may just need someone from there to call Tricare on your behalf. I wish you the best of luck. Where are you now?? Are you still in the Biloxi area? They took it when I went to see them in December 2005, but maybe they don't take it to cover the surgery, I don't know. Darla will be able to help. Good luck! Rhonda

The meeting is held at the Pepsi Recreation Center which is located on Dedeaux Road. If you take Hwy 49 North, to Dedeaux Road, turn East and follow it until you see the Pepsi Plant on the left. The meeting is held in the front east side of the building. If you get lost, call me on my cell phone, 365-7846. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. and Dr. Jenkins from Keesler will be our speaker tonight, so maybe he can help you out with when they will start doing the surgeries at Keesler or who you can call about having it done in the meantime.
