A couple of food questions??????
I am wondering if anyone knows when you can eat salad? Is it at 4 months out? Also, when are nuts ok? I remember the dietician saying that they are not o****il around 6 or more months. I would like to try salad but am not at the 2 month mark yet and am afraid to upset things since they are going pretty well. By the way, They told me that Steak is a big old no no, cause it can cause you to have to have surgery if it gets stuck and there is not enough acid in the pouch to digest it.
The doctor did tell me that whole pills at 6 months are ok, but take only small ones if possible..........
I have just weighed and now have offically lost 30 pounds since Surgery!

Cheryl,
You are doing great loosing.Keep up the good work.
I could not have salad until 6 months. But every dr is
different. I couldn't have stea****il 9 months and I'm
a little past it but haven't tried it yet.I'm a chicken at
trying new stuff scared of getting sick. Hope that helps
a little.

Thanks for asking for me. I know that the dietician really gave me hedoublesticks for eating peanut butter too. They did warn me that steak might not ever be on the menu again due to the problems with digestion and that it may stop up the opening thus needing surgery again,
something I am not wanting to do ever again!!!! Also Popcorn was listed as a no no on my list too....
Maybe the dietician can give us all some ideas for the next couple of months........

I was not a big salad person before surgery. I do like salads now and I did have them kinda early out but I have never really eaten the lettuce. I mostly eat the cucumbers, tomatoes, cheese, bacon bits, etc... I hear lettuce is really not all that great for us early out, but I never really ate the lettuce before.
Be gentle with steak. Chew it chew it chew it. Melissa and I shared a steak one time and we asked for it Medium rare... it came to us well done and I hurt for several several days. This was back in Jan or Feb so I was about 3 or 4 mos out and that was my first steak. I suggest if you do eat one that it is not very dry and chew it to death. If it does get stuck - use meat tenderizer.
Congratulations on your 30 pounds. That is awesome. When will you all be coming back? Will you wait until next summer?
Well Cheryl i have ate salad since 2 weeks out and nuts and steak too and havent had any problems. I take pills all the time and nothing has gotten stuck. Im strange though! lol so dont listen to me or do anything that i do i just had to chime in!!!!!! LOL Your doing great with the wt loss girl!! DAWN
I remember going to the Hattiesburg luncheon when I was about a month or two out and watching EVERYBODY eat salad and wondering how can they tolerate that? I'll NEVER be able to....but I eat salad all the time now. When you first start with salad, use shredded lettuce! I don't remember how far out I was, but my first salad was a taco salad from taco bell, then I bought shredded lettuce from Walmart and it went down so easy!

I guess that I will wait a while then try your suggestion. Salad is such a good solution to the work or restaurant problem cause you can get it and it is so portable too. I love veggies and meat is not a problem but I will not try steak for a long long time since the Dr told me that they operated on a woman who had a massive blockage due to steak that she ate. I NEVER want to have surgery again!!!! EVER!!!!!
Love ya,
Cheryl
