Made it home to Hong Kong
Hi everybody, I made the long trip back to Hong Kong ok, although Don had a big problem in New Orleans since his plane broke down and he came into LA about 2 hours late! I changed my flight to a later one and we were able to fly togather for the last leg of the trip. I slept when I got here the entire day, had some soup and melon and am going back to bed since I have to be at school for 10 am tomorrow. Doc released me on lite duty, no lifting over 8 pounds. They will have lunch tomorrow and I hope that I can eat it, will go shopping to buy things I can have after work, if not too tired.... I was very happy that I didnt get sick but almost came close one time.... whew, that would have been so bad!!!
Need advice still on good foods for a 2 monther.
I bought the cooking with Splenda cookbook, so will try some stuff and post it on the board. I also wanted to mention that I looked at a lot of the protein bars at Walmart and they have a lot of alcohol sugar in them but found that a lot of the bars in the cereal section were better on sugars, kashi had one with nuts that looks good (I cannot eat nuts yet) and very low sugar overall, and cheap about 3 dollars per box. So some of you that use the protein bars might want to check.... I really liked the Luna bar Lemon Zest, although you cannot eat it all at one go, too much sugar!
I will be on the computer daily now and will post my foods too, that is a great idea cause I learn about what things I can try to eat too!!!!!!

Hmmm, you are mostly on the shakes to get ready for surgery? They let me have boneless chicken and salad for dinner because the shakes just were not enough. After your surgery, they will only bring you Crystal lite, sugar free jello and broth. When I got home, I made homemade potato soup, plain, not creamy, and other kinds of things like clear wonton soup from the chinese restaurant. I also ate some hamburger but got blasted by the dietician, so went back on the other more soft diet. I found that chicken pot pies went down well for me, if the meat is tough dont eat it and chew well. You will fill up so fast, four ounces is half a cup, about a spoonful of two things and that is it. Later on I ate soft cooked butterbeans, dressing, and a bite of turkey. When my pouch is too full, and I sometimes misjudge, I have to go and lie down for a little while to let the food settle. So far, thank goodness, I havent thrown up! Still cant go the mayo texture for tuna salad and stuff like tha****ermelon goes down so easy!!!!! Boiled shrimp or shrimp salad works great but has to be a fine texture. I also like Hommus dip, made of chickpeas. It goes down easily......
Hi Cheryl
Glad to hear you made it home safely. It can be tough when you're travelling from two different places and try to meet up somewhere, I've tried that and it wasn't very successful.
As for the protein bars, I'm not much on the bars, I rather try to get protein from foods, and the only bar I actually like is the Snickers peanut bar, so I'm not much help. There are lots of high protein low sugar cereals out there, you just gotta look around and find one you like. The one I liked was at wal mart, then they discontinued it and then one day I found them at the dollar store. Wohoo. Guessing it didn't do well, but I 'm happy to get it at a dollar a box rather than 4 bucks!!
The first few months are trial and error, just read labels, do the best you can, I ate a lot of chili, lots of broiled fish or baked chicken during that time. Or veggies.
I am one of those people, if I find something I like and that goes well, I tend to stay with it, I'm not very choosy with the foods I want any more, because I'm not hungry and sometimes I just eat because I have to. Other days I want foods, but they aren't what I'm supposed to be eating so I just have a bite or two. LOL Yeah, the surgery didn't heal the cravings, but it helps not eating the whole box of twinkies any more ( just kidding!! )
Take care and we're definitely going to keep you accountable here, so don't even think about slacking with your daily posts!!

Well I can bring pictures of the fluffy me, and there are quite a few posted on my profile. I have one to post that I took the morning of surgery. I am VERY fluffy in that one! Got a new electronic scale, we checked it to make sure it is accurate, I now weigh 207 down from 235!
Tried the potted meat but it was too spicy for me when I tried so will try again. Campbells Chicken gumbo was good though and no problems with it. Got to find some good things to take to work. I got refried beans at Taco bell and almost got sick, dont even go there, but had a cheese and chicken quesidella at Ruby Tuesdays with sour cream and salsa and no problems at all!
If I can get up the energy, will go to the store tomorrow to see what they have, crackers continue to be my friend for something that agrees but I will have to stop them soon!
