I have a date~~~08/30/2005
Hi all! I have been experimenting with this website for awhile now and I am just now getting the hang of adding info to my profile, and all that good stuff. I don't know any of you, but you all seem like one big happy family from what I've read. I went to see Dr. Cleveland in April 2005, and about fell out of the chair when the nurse gave me my surgery date this past Thursday. I was in a "happy shock". I am very excited and just a little nervous about the change. All of the sudden I feel like a prisoner on death row who is deciding what my last meal will be, lol. That's the best way I can describe it. Anyways, I hope to get to know all of you better and I will keep in touch. Have a nice day! Amanda
Hi Amanda ~~
Welcome to the Mississippi board !! We're glad to have you ! This is a great place for info and support, if you have any questions or issues, please don't be shy, post them and we're here for you. I know you feel like you have " last supper syndrome" now, but let me assure you, you will eat things again that you ate before, just in much, much smaller quantities. The surgery just gives you a tool, it will allow you to learn to eat right, learn to eat the important things first, to get all the protein you need. Once you have eaten that, you're usually either full or just about full, your taste buds will change, you'll crave things you may not have liked or preferred previously, its really funny how it changes us ! I'm sure everyone here on the board can give you a few examples of things they never thought they would crave!!
At any rate, I hope you come here often and update us frequently on yourself!!
Take care and God bless.

Hey Amanda! Welcome to our family!!! I am so glad about your date! I am living in Brandon now so I hope to see you when you have surgery! (My lift for my truck is supposed to be put in on Monday or Tuesday so I will be very, very mobile!! I can't wait!) I LOVE your name. My oldest was almost Amanda Grace, but we didn't think he would like that being a boy!!!
Happy shock will also turn into the blind terrors and bouncing off the wall excited!!!! Lots of emotions from here on out so be ready! Come back often and post long and we will give you lots of support. We even allow whining!!!! Trust me, I've whined my share!

Amanda,
Welcome to the Ms. board. There are a whole lot of grea folks on here to answer any questions or fears that you may have. You have picked the greatest surgeon. He did my surgery in March and I couldnt be happier. He has one of the best bedside manners that I have ever encountered in a Dr. And dont be afraid to ask him questions he will answer them all for you no problem. If there is any thing I can answer for you feel free to email me. Best of luck and our prayers go with you into your new life.

Thank you all for such a warm greeting! You are all so nice! Sorry it took me so long to respond back. I am very excited and have been doing a lot of reading on the message boards, websites, books, and hearing testimonies. I keep thinking about my "last supper", kinda makes me feel liek I am on death row, lol. I was told to either lose or maintain my weight and to start exercising so that's what I am trying to do because I know it's in my best interest. I gotta think of something good to eat. Maybe I should just have a party and assign everyone who is coming a resturant to pick something up from. LOL! No, seriously, I am thinking about something like Cracker Barrel because it's kinda healthy, and I love the homeade food, especially veggies. Arlies...Thanks for the comment about my name, I for to tell u my last name, which is George. I have a man's first name as my last name. hehe. I am so glad you nice people are so supportive. I have a good support system with my family, but not too many friends outside of that, but the ones I have are so GREAT! Hope to keep in touch with you, and good luck with all of your upcoming surgeries or post-op recoveries. Gentle Hugs!!! Amanda
