What Did You Eat Today?? "Wednesday, 8-3-05"
Hey Everyone.
I'll go first today. I wanted to thank Dawn and Sara for taking me out to eat by the way, I haven't had mexican in such a long time, it was delicious and I took a whole bunch of food home for the next three days LOL
Sorry, Girls , for running out on you the way I did, but that 5 yr old was driving me bonkers and she started wanting to run across that parking lot to get to the car, ended up having a fit half way to the car because I was holding her by the arm... I just needed to get her home and bathed and into bed. You know how it is to have so much fun all day and then the winding down part just doesn't go as smooth as expected. I hope you two can forgive me. We need to do a lunch without kids or guys or anything sometimes, just girls !!! LOL
Anyways, here it goes:
Breakfast : Protein Shake
Snack : 1/2 Apple
Lunch: 1 mozarella cheese stick
Snack: -
Dinner: 2oz of steak, 3T refried beans, 2T Guacamole wrapped in a small tortilla ( ate about 3/4 of it )
a couple of chips with salsa and queso dip
Snack: nothing, still too full !!
Liquid: 100 oz s/f cl tea & 8oz skim milk from shake

7:30 Protein Shake - 110
9:45 2 South beach Cookies - 100
11:30 5 shrimp, steamed veggies, and couple bites of brown rice and some sort of condiment - 210
2:00 South beach protein bar - 140
5:00 1 ounce bag of KC Masterpeice Chips - 150
6:30 SF Turtles - 210 (Yikes... a regular hershey bar only has 250)
7:45 Squash and Onions (roughly 120)
Total cals for the day: 940ish... Go me Go me Go me!!
Go you, go you.
B omelet
s protein bar
L 4 grilled shrimp
broccoli and cauliflower steamed
S 1 slice cheese
D 2 oz grilled chicken on top of bed of lettuce, tomato, onion, and cheese, topped with salsa and sour cream; ate bite of the shell it was in
Dessert sf ice cream with sf choc sauce and bite of banana

Most of your calories are coming from your protein so do not fret. At this stage and you being so early out I would not even worry about counting calories yet. My doc actually told us not to worry about counting cals until we were a year out. I am not a year out yet but want to get in the habit.
You are doing fine.

PS.. I didnt exercise at all today unless cleaning house counts... and I didnt really do much of that... I washed dishes and folded clothes.
I did find a food scale today that I am quite proud of. I have measuring cups but its hard to measure chicken breast in a measuring cup. I didnt want to spend the 50 bucks for the mac daddy from Walmart so I have been on the lookout for a cheap one. I went to Roses, Freds, 2 dollar Generals and then to Family Dollar. I found the scales there and they were $3.00. WHen I went to pay they were priced to $1.00. I bought 5 of them. Not sure why but it was a good deal. So, I am taking one to work, one for home, one for my car for family social events, one for Melissa at work and one for my friend Connie. Granted its not a fancy wancy thing but it will get what I need done done. Plus, when we order in at work or have luncheons it will be nice to have on hand. I am becoming obsessive about knowing what is going in my mouth (ounce wise)... I hold more than I should and if I measure at least I can stop myself at 6 ounces and not go any farther. I am satisfied with 6 ounces but could comfortably hold 7-8 ounces to obtain that "FULL" feeling.
I miss being a newbie when I couldnt eat diddly. Those were the days. The farther out I get the more out of control I feel sometimes. But the past few days have been better for me calorie wise although I did just have a SF pudding - adding 80 cals to my day for a grand total of around 1120 or so. Thats dealable.
Dont you sweat those calories right now... Your goal should be to get all the protein you can in and keep doing what youve been doing cause you are doing amazingly well for someone so short out of surgery.

Your post makes me feel alot better. I am trying hard to get the right eating habits established before REAL hunger returns. This may be a horrible goal but...I am going to try not to eat out more than once every two weeks. One of my problems before surgery was eating while socializing. When I do eat while socializing, I have not learned to be conscience of how much I have eaten and I eat more than I normally would.

That is good for me!! I sure would have like to have some of that Mexican food though..
