How long did your post op pain last? I am 2 weeks out and my left side and left back are still really painful. Tylenol doesnt touch it. It feels like a really bad pulled muscle. I have also tried heat and ice. Any suggestions???

I had the back pain for a while. Just could not find a comftorable position. I want to say for at least three weeks and that was after the week I spent in the hospital. I took my liquid loratab and that helped me to at least get some rest. AFter I got my staples out and was able to at least lay on my back in the bed it finally wore off. If it last too long dont hesitate to contact your dr though. Hope you feel better soon! Denise

I don't know how yours was done, but mine was done laproscopically, and I did not have pain after about the first week. I did not take any pain meds once I got home. But everyone is different. You are two weeks out so I would think things would be much better by now. If it is not better in the next day or so I would just call my surgeon and see what he has to say. Good luck and I hope you feel better really soon. I am sorry you are hurting so badly. That is no fun. Melissa

It was done lapriscopicly. The pain has moved from the left side to my back on the left. There is no pain on the front of my stomach. I will call my doc tomorrow. Thanks again girls!

Now, I had a friend who had gall bladder surgery done lap and had major chest pains like he was having a heart attack. They checked him out and determined it was trapped air left still from the lap surgery. All the air they had blown him up with had not worked its way out yet. That is what his pain ended up being from. Since it is your back, maybe that is it. Melissa

I hope it is something that will resolve itself like that and not need and invasive procedures. Thanks for your support and information.

hey Amy I know I'm probably not much help here, but if you're in that much pain, please please just call the doc's office and say look, I am in unbearable pain here and this Tylenol stuff just ain't cuttin' it !!! There's no reason for you to be in pain like that and it's not unusual to be that sore for a while. If you can walk around, try to walk walk walk walk walk, to get the trapped air out, I know it's tough, but believe me, it really makes a difference, the more you walk and get moving around, the better you'll feel. Please call them asap in the morning and don't take no for an answer. Wish there was more I could do for ya, girl, but they won't let me have a prescription pad *pout* Take care and hope u feel better soon! ~Andie~

Girl im so sorry to hear that you are still in pain so is Sara thats weird, i didnt have any at all. You need to call The Man and tell him, he woudlnt want you suffering like that. Didnt they give you some loratab? Thats what they sent me home on , even though i never took it. It sounds like traped gas to me , i would walk and wiggle around and try and move it on though . Hope you feel better soonm if not i will take you to see this great dr that i know!! DAWN
