I hadn't noticed this problem any worse after surgery than it was before. Personally sometimes vitamins can cause problems for me. I've found "Fibre One" cereal recently and I've been drinking a LOT more water and I haven't had any problems (daily!). Are you doing any or all of the above? JY

I did not have that problem to start out with. I was like the opposite. Everything made me have to go and quick. But now I suffer from constipation and bad sometimes. My doctor said the reason is because I do not drink enough water. If I would up my water intake and eat a little more fruit and veggies which contain more water that I would probably be okay and not have that problem so bad. Terry in our local group has had problems with that from the beginning though. And they just have her do those fleet enemas at home when she needs to. So if you do not go soon, do an enema. There are others on here that have posted about that in the past and that is what they do too. No fun but I guess they get the relief they need. Fortunately, I have not gotten to that point of needing to do that. I just drink more water and end up going. Melissa

Denise, I feel for ya. I am 10 months out and have had this problem. I have had much advice and all is different and nothing helped with my irr. BM's. I went for 10 days with NO BM. I was hurting so bad. Felt like my guts were going to come out. I ended up in the ER. They told me to do a Fleet's Enima once a day for 3 days. I did. No movement. Before the trip to the ER I had taken laxitives 2 days in a row and ZIP (nothing)!. After the 3 enima's didn't help, I went to my PCP. He ran test. And told me to contact my surgeon. Now get this ever since I was about 3 months out, I have been taking 2 Colace Stool Softeners daily. I called my surgeon and was able to get in to see him the following morning. He looked at the test that had been done on me in the ER and Dr's office. Felt of my pouch (cause it was burning) but yet the other part of the tummy was cramping hurting. He said that I had a pacted colon. And possible ulcer in the pouch. He put me on Zantac for the possible ulcer. And instructed me to come home and drink Phospha Soda. And after that cleans me out, anytime I go 3-4 days without a BM then do a laxative. I think he scared me insides, cause after the Phospha Soda and 1 more time of laxatives, I go regularly. If I go 2 days, I will say, well looks like I might have to take an laxative..and it scares my insides and she gets to moving.. LoL Sorry for all the ones that think this is TMI, but this is a common problem among WLS patients. Good Luck to you Denise! If I was you, I would at least contact my PCP and let him/her know what is going on and see what advice they have for you. I can only tell you what was done for me .... and what my Dr's instructed me to do may not be what your's wants you to do. Jo

So I shall up that also Jo thanks for the info did not even think about drinking the stuff they had me drink before surgery. Boy that stuff works fast and good plus I did not have all the cramps and stuff you seem to get with exlax. So if I am not better by this pm I am going to stop by the mart and get me some of that little green bottle. lol lol Thanks agin for your help! Love ya Denise

Hi Denise ~~ I have to agree with Crystal on that, the whole " coffee " trick works for me too!! I use a cup of skim milk, nuke it and then put the instant coffee in it ( yes, too busy to brew the stuff when I'm running late as usual haha ) and splenda. Coffee always has had a laxative effect on me. Also , up the water, I can tell when I only have three bottles of water ( 60 oz ) one day , I have issues. Don't worry about it being TMI, you got questions, we got answers!! He He He Take care ~Andie~
