diarrhea during Clear Liquid Phase 1 Diet after surgery

Is this normal? When does it stop? Could it be caused by sensitivity to the sweetener in sugar-free popsicles and jello? Or is it simply a case of liquid in, liquid out? Sorry to be so gross....

LOL! Grossness is quite the norm around here! Probably just a liquid diet thing. I was like that too. Some people do have sensitivity to the artificial sweeteners though. Make sure you are getting plenty of water too. Hang in there -- it gets so much better! HUGS Kimberly

It could be that you are drinking something which has sugar in it like Grape Juice? I was given it in the hospital and didnt know what the problem was until later! It is Loaded with lots of natural sugar. You also are having a lot of changes in your body too and with a lot of liquids and your tummy trying to heal, it is normal to have a lot of just fluids passing thru. Little by little that will change when you go on the protein shakes and there will be days that you will not go to the bathroom at all to do no 2! So don't despair, you are just healing!!!! Cheryl
